Justin Wilson, as he didn't get a fair chance at Jaguar due to joining mid-season. Eddie is sadly missed as well, also some names from further back like Jean Alesi and Ken Tyrrell. Murray as well, but realistically you can understand why an 82-year-old would not thrive under the pressure of his job.

Murray Walker. He made even the most boring of races sound interesting!

Then you could add Nigel Mansell, Senna, Piquet, Prost, Rosberg senior, Villeneuve senior ... or anyone prior to the current lot who could actually RACE!

As (a) the Grand Prix is currently in Australia and (b) his name is being mentioned in dispatches as a possible new entrant in 2008, I'm nominating Stoddy. He at least made the behind-the-scenes politicking of Formula One interesting!

Juan Manuel Fangio. Not only for his majestic skills as a racing driver, but the Maestro did an important role for Argentinian motorsport, when helped to have the Argentinian GP back in F1 calendar many times.

I do miss big, slick tyres and drivers having to change gear manually. As for drivers, then I think drivers such as Alboreto, Alesi, Berger and Hakkinen all added to the sport. Also, Minardi when it was run by Giancarlo Minardi and featured Pierluigi Martini in the driver line up.

I miss --
Senna -- perhaps the greatest of all time
Berger -- excellent driver, bright guy with a lot of personality and humor
Prost -- The consumate professional
Alesi -- Even though I was not an alesi fan, his natural ability should have garnered him a lot more than just one win

He caught my interest in 1995, for I thought he did some pretty impressive stuff in the Tyrrell.

He continued to impress me, and, over time, the bits and bobs of his "personality", as portrayed by the media, dripped out and I liked that aspect too.

I think he was an excellent F1 driver whose results, IMHO, don't reflect his talent - and a nice guy too!

What:
Any number of cylinders (especially 12, or even 16!)
full fuel tanks for racing (no refuelling - the racing is done on the track, not in the pits)
fat slicks
missed gears (manual gearboxes with clutch pedals)
ground effect

Who:
Edmund Jordan
Paul Stoddart
Ken Tyrrell
Giancarlo Minardi
Murray Walker

Of drivers still with us, there are not many that I'd like to see back in an F1 car to show that they really can do it, even though the machinery they had at the time was pants. Allan McNish is probably top of the list. If Johnny Herbert were a little younger, I'd like to see him back too, in a top flight car.

The list of those who have passed, topped by Clarke & Senna, but many more, including Bellof who was stunningly quick, but lost to a sportscar accident.

Of all of the things above, the one thing I'd love to see return to F1, which in my mind would fix many of the things wrong with it, is no refuelling, and let the drivers race on the track, not in the heads of the strategists on the pit wall. That also includes light fuel qualifying.

Rob.

I miss the characters that brought us real rivalries. Senna and Prost, Hill and Schumacher, Mansell and Senna... won't be seeing anything like them anytime soon.

Great close rivalries have been somewhat absent in recent years, primarily due to the outright dominance of Schumacher & Ferrari, but I think Raikkonen & Alonso's rivalry could develop in the coming seasons to match those you mentioned.

There is also a bit of a developing feud between Alonso & Valentino Rossi, so if Rossi makes his expected switch to four wheels, that may be one to keep your eye on.

Hmmm, I will probably go for:

Turbo's
Slick Goodyears
Cars with big rear tyres and small fronts
Sparks
Cars without all of todays electronic driver aids

I dont think we will see many of those returning in todays safety concious world.

Who:

Eddie Irvine - Very fast on his day and a funny guy, always had a lot to say and wasnt afraid of being contraversial.

Justin Wilson - Wasnt really given a fair shot with Jaguar, if he had been I feel he could still be in F1 now and doing a good job.

Mika Hakkinen - Very fast driver and a genuinely nice guy.

What:

V10's - The V8's are good, but the howl of the V10s were just so much better.

Slicks - Never really have liked the current grooved tyres that F1 is now stuck with.

No Traction Control - Without traction control I think mistakes would be punished much more and tyre choice and looking after the tyres would be much more important than it is now.
