Rossi Eyes Toyota Test
According to this week's Autosport magazine, Moto GP megastar Valentino Rossi will get his first taste of a Formula 1 car thanks to Toyota in the next few weeks.

OVERSTEER should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Max Biaggi tested a Ferrari F1 car back in about 1998 or 1999 and was apparently quite quick.

It's really strange why Rossi would turn down a Ferrari test drive to drive a Toyota...

But obviously, it seem like the Yamaha-Toyota links played a little role.

You'd have to go back to John Surtees and Mike Hailwood for the last guys to race Grands Prix on both 2 and 4 wheels. I admire Max for having a go, I just wish it wasn't with Toyota. Now that he's got his new challenge at Yamaha, I'm sure he'll do at least 2 more bike seasons before considering moving over.

Iirc, Max was roughly 6 seconds off the pace.

I wonder if it has anything to do with cigarette advertising, which Rossi hates. Plus, iirc, Yamaha are no longer under the "Marlboro banner" (??) so theres no obvious ties between Ferrari and Yamaha there.

That's coorect Mr V, but Yamaha run with Gauloises sponsorship now. Wonder what happened to Rossis insistence of running without tobacco sponsorship?

It's been arranged by toyata as a publicity event. because yamaha and toyota are linked they've arranged this to happen at paul ricard and Panis will be doing a few laps on Rossi's Bike. Where did you read it has been denied?
