Well, i'm finally home!! Started well early this morning and headed up at high speed (sorry to any plod I may have startled!) arriving just in time. Glad I did though - a good day

Chris - I want to play!!

Well done on the two finishes - shame you only got the one signature though - reckon the C of C should have made an exception

Sad to see so many cars come to grief - especially those in the VW Cup... It was nice though to see the regular gang again - Lorna, Maisie, Carrie, Chris, Mrs Doyle. And good too to meet WoodyRacing!

I'm real sorry i'm gonna miss the next round, but i'll definately be at Brands - try and keep me away - what a wonderful series!

Harumph!

Wanted to be there.

Promised I'd be there.

Tried to get there.

Failed.

Stymied by a garage - a manufacturers main agent no less - which managed to balls up my car's braking system during what should have been a routine service, and charged me £500 for the privilege.

I spent a significant proportion of my Saturday arguing the toss with the service manager.

I would have preferred to be at Oulton Park.

Believe me.

Doesn't sound like you had a good day at all Tim. Bloody garages, don't you hate them.
Sorry we didn't get to see you at Oulton.

It was the fact that there was a fundamental fault in their brake servicing which they weren't prepared to admit to that really got to me.

They were doing the "Joe Public doesn't know that the pads have to bed in" spiel at me, and I had to emphasise to them that I was missing being at pit side with a racing team and so I know what I am talking about before the service manager was even persuaded to get the car back up on the hoists at all.

I hate to think if I had been ignorant of the difference and had been prepared to be sent on my way. I confidently predict that the car would have had total failure of one caliper within a few hundred miles.

Anyway - Combe on Monday, eh? Didn't know it was Monday. Well, the majority of the weekend is booked for going to visit my Nanna, who will be celebrating 80 years of age. But that's not necessarily the Bank Holiday as well, and she lives in Somerset. I mean - I would have to drive right past Combe to get back to London anyway.

A plot is hatching....

And my most used words of the day.... "Chris, Fuel"

Sorry you couldn't make it Tim. Was wondering what had happened to you.

Sorry I didn't stay for the second race, Chris. I was so tired and had to get home. Talking of fuel, I didn't think I was going to make it to the service station and had visions of me phoning Craig asking him to stop off on his way down to get me some

Tim, if that was me a very strong letter would be going to the highest person stressing that you won't be using them again. It sometimes works. I have had many refunds or ex-gratia payments.

Good day - thoroughly enjoyed myself. Shame about the weather (hailstone!?!?!?!)

It was a larf, wasn't it?

Mrs Doyle, Mr. and Mrs. Maisie and Lorny - you missed my some overtaking on my part in the second race! After more than 6 cars spun after Old Hall, I ended up quite a long way back, but I managed to catch and pass two cars. I guess I have a pretty good engine, because I was in danger of pushing them up Clay Hill!

Finished 19th out of 23 in the race.. I think I could have gone better, but I couldn't get past the car in front - some very good, but clean blocking there..

As for the red faces - you get used to them It was the wind I think. Or the hailstones!

Sorry all who couldn't make it - especially to Tim who was at the mercy of car dealers and to Sparky, who was enjoying a wedding. The scrutineers must have noticed you weren't around when they thought about asking me to strip my engine!

Next up - Combe, and it clashes with everything I'll post a separate thread for that one later
