I think that despite what that article says we will still see the JLOC Murciealgo in the JLMC this year, I would certainly hope so anyway. Still, things look to be improving slightly dont they? It looks like a slightly better line up of cars to me than what we had last year.

My news said that the Murcialagos miss the test (they will run round 2 of SuperGT the follow week-end at Okayama) BUT for sure at least one R-GT will be in 4 rounds of the serie.
anche se in GT1, sicuramente le Murcielago R-GT 'JLOC' saranno della partita CAN BE TRANSLATED: but, in GT1, for sure the Murcielagos R-GT 'JLOC' will be join the races" P.S. Sorry for by bad English Last edited by mirkob; 30 Mar 2007 at 11:20. |

if i were over there i would do super gt, because its cooler (in the public eye), has a bigger audience, is global, is better promoted, and has more scope for machinery. and there is competition.
also... how does gt1/gt2 compare to gt300/500? because they surely arent 300bhp and 500bhp are they? and how can a gt1 spec lambo be up against almost gt2 spec porsches??? |

You have to start somewhere. SuperGT may be the biggest but that doesn't mean the JLMC shouldn't attempt something different. There used to be the JSPC back in the day.
And GT300 is about equivilant in speed to GT1, I believe. |

GT1 is a bit faster than GT300 I think to be honest, especially if we are talking about a top GT1 car run by a works team.
As has been said, yes Super GT is the dominant force in Japan at the moment but the JLMC seems to be building slowly but surely, give it a couple of years and I think it could grow into a reasonably strong series. |

If Japanese manufacturers got involved with the JLMC, then it would become big. But they probably will need to work on the promotion side in order to attract them in.
The race events themselves have got to have some attractiveness to the manufacturers. Right now the message seems to be "come and race and get your Le Mans place" and nothing else. |

But the Japanese manufacturers can just as well race in ALMS or LMS, which are, for now at least, better promoted and have stronger opposition.

Yes the ALMS and LMS is better promoted and does have better opposition which is exactly the reason why its harder to get a automatic Le Mans spot by racing in either the ALMS or LMS or FIA GT. That is exactly why the JLMC is a good option for manufacturers, whether they are Japaneese, European or American. Automatic invites for Le Mans are hard to get.

Besides, it's not as if the japanese manufacturers would even need to bother with any series, if they were to express an interest in le mans, the ACO would surely see that an entry is reserved for them. They wouldn't turn away a factory team now, would they? That said, an auto-invite does give a greater degree of security. And if more than one were to build ACO-compliant cars, the level of competition would rise to such a point that the JLMC would be on a par with the european and american series anyway.
