See you there, I have an entry in the G Marshall Trophy.

Also changed the thread title so as not to confuse our "older" brethren.

In addition to the above list add one Sabre Six!
Surely and Elva Courier would add some welcome further variety, I should be ready by March.........

From Goodwood Press Release; The answer to the DADIO question.

One of the most famous Lotus Elites ever created will take part in the Goodwood 73rd Members’ Meeting on March 21-22 next year in a race paying tribute to the man who made the car a star of British motor racing, Alfred Lazarus Fingleston, AKA Les Leston.

The Series II Elite, known simply as ‘DADIO’, because of its registration number – ‘DAD 10’ – will be raced by its owner Robin Longdon in the Les Leston Cup for British sports and GT cars of 1960-66. Leston, a renowned driver in the 1950s and ’60s, retired to set up an aftermarket empire producing accessories and safety equipment that were hugely popular with competitors in period.

Leston won 154 races during his career as well as the 1954 British Formula 3 title, but carved a career out of his other passion, jazz music, earning the nickname ‘Daddio’ on the scene while drumming with band The Clay Pigeons.

After buying the Elite and fitting it with the resultant ‘DAD 10’ number plate, Leston waged some legendary battles with the similar ‘LOV 1’, car driven by Graham Warner of rival squad Chequered Flag Racing, and was rewarded with the 1961 British Sports Car title after a campaign that featured several class wins at Goodwood.

He sold the car less than a year later, and retired from racing to focus instead on his business interests, which included pioneering flameproof overalls and helmets.

The car, easily recognisable among Elites due to its distinctive front and rear bodywork alterations, was lost for over a decade, but was found by Elite enthusiast Malcolm Ricketts in a damaged state in a field next to a repair shop in 1978.

A six-year restoration project, involving Ricketts, Tony Bates and Longdon, ensued, and the car has since become a regular, and popular, competitor on the historic racing scene.

‘DAD 10’ will battle against numerous Austin Healey 3000s, Morgan +4s, TVR Grantura MkIIIs plus representation from Rochdale, Tornado, Daimler, Turner, WSM and Reliant.

For all Media enquiries, please contact Jamie O’Leary or Gema Bernaldo de Quiros at the Goodwood Motor Sport Press Office:

This is awesome. Jarier's back in his DN5 (the Brazil and Argentina car from '75) at Goodwood:

Here's what their website says:

With little over eight weeks until the 73rd Members’ Meeting, faint traces of fever are becoming noticeable here at the circuit whenever phrases like ‘Group C‘ or ‘high-airbox’ enter the conversation.

Yesterday we experienced one such fevered moment when, not only was it announced that the Shadow DN5 would be in attendance, but that it would be driven by the very man – Jean-Pierre Jarier – who campaigned it in F1 during the 1975 season.

There will be more than 25 ‘high-airbox’ cars in attendance at 73MM, representing one of the most visually-memorable periods ever in motor racing and the Shadow, with its predominantly black livery, was one of the most recognisable. Not only that, but it was a genuinely quick car. Despite not winning a race, it led convincingly at Brazil before succumbing to mechanical maladies and racked-up three pole positions and two fastest laps in the hands of Jarier and the late Tom Pryce.

This car was retired after it suffered major damage at Monaco that year, and stayed retired until a successful restoration meant it could take part in last year’s Monaco Grand Prix Historique. Monsieur Jarier himself, now 68, enjoyed a 12-year career in F1 before moving to touring and GT cars, and even stunt-driving in films like Ronin.

Also on track taking part in the high-speed demonstration will be Niki Lauda’s title-winning Ferrari 312T, Lotus 72s, and examples of Tyrells, McLarens, Marches, the Matra-engined Shadow DN7 and rarities like the Amon AF101 and Token RJ02.

Following on from last year’s Eighties turbo-era F1 high-speed demonstration was always going to be a tough ask. The signs are that the Competitions Department has nailed it!

I've looked on the website and it seems to suggest you can buy a ticket if the members don't snap them all up, so I'm going to give it a try.

Is there a programme of the races available, ie what races are on what day - can't find anything on the website.

No sign of any timetable yet - and I've got an entry....

But going by the event last year, all the qualifying was on Saturday with only one race on Saturday evening - the one hour/2 driver race into the night. All other races were on Sunday.

Remember that this meeting doesn't have the level of non-racing fillers that the Revival has. Either day will give you plenty of circuit action, but for the races, Sunday would seem to be the day to go if you can only do one.

Let's hope that the weather gods shine down on Lord March as they did in 2014.

Brian A, they've already announced that the Graham Hill Trophy will be run into the darkness on Saturday night, so based on last year, I think we can expect the Group 1 tourers sprint race and the Formula Juniors on Saturday before it, and the rest on Sunday. Guessing the demos will run on each day too.

Have you seen the latest driver line-up (star names only): https://grrc.goodwood.com/members-me...runners-riders

Latest from Goodwood ....

FIFTH GEAR’S TIFF NEEDELL RETURNS TO GOODWOOD FOR 73rd MEMBERS’ MEETING

Television star and ex-Formula 1 racer Tiff Needell is the latest big name to be added to the Goodwood 73rd Members’ Meeting line-up as the star-studded entry list for the March 21-22 event nears completion.

Needell, whose father Tony contested the inaugural Members’ Meeting at Goodwood in 1949, will race in the Gerry Marshall Trophy for Group 1 touring cars of up to 1982 vintage, which is named in honour of the 1970s tin-top cult hero.

The Fifth Gear and former Top Gear presenter, who started the 1980 Belgian Grand Prix for the British Ensign team and can also list a British Touring Car race win and a podium finish at the Le Mans 24 Hours among his many achievements, will race a 1981 Rover 3500 SD1.
The car, which carries the famous Daily Express livery, is the same machine in which Needell finished ninth in last year’s Gerry Marshall Trophy. He will once again share the former Dave Price Racing and Tom Walkinshaw Racing car with its owner, Peter Mallett ...

Goodwood House Captains Emanuele Pirro (Torbolton), Jochen Mass (Darnley) and Nicolas Minassian (Aubigny), all of whom will lead their respective teams in pursuit of the Goodwood House Trophy, have all now had their cars for the Gerry Marshall Trophy confirmed.

Formula 1 Grand Prix winner Mass will pilot a 1982-spec Rover 3500 SD1 in the Sanyo livery made famous by Jeff Allam’s British Touring Car exploits while five-time Le Mans 24 Hours winner Pirro – second in last year’s race – will drive Philip Perryman’s 1977 UFO Jeans BMW 530i; a car that makes its Members’ Meeting debut in 2015.

Minassian, who was unable to compete in last year’s event, has secured a seat in Duncan McKay’s BP Ford Capri III 3.0S, which was driven by Darren Turner last year. Anthony Reid, whose Methuen House took the prize in 2014, was last week confirmed to drive a Triumph Dolomite Sprint.

They join a top-line list of current and former professional racers in the Gerry Marshall Trophy, which includes 2012 World Touring Car champion Rob Huff, BTCC title winners Andrew Jordan Tim Harvey, Robb Gravett and tin-top heroes Steve Soper, Darren Turner, Rob Austin, Stuart Graham and Patrick Watts.

The Members’ Meeting revives the spirit and camaraderie of the 71 BARC events held at Goodwood Motor Circuit from 1949-66 and provides an intimate and uncrowded atmosphere for all visitors, along with access to all areas of the site, including Goodwood’s largest-ever party on the Saturday night, which will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display set to music.

After the problems at last Revival with many cars pitting for a driver change at same time when a Safety Car period occurred, I see the pit lane will be closed during any SC period for two driver races at MM73. The pit window will be extended to compensate, so presumably the rule regarding each driver completing a minimum 15 minutes (in 45 minute race) will be waived as well....

I would guess the above will be adopted for this September Revival as well.

Sound reasoning there, albeit a tad overdue.

I have just lost an hour of my life on the GW website trying to buy a couple of tickets for the MM (ultimately unsuccessfuly). I go through the same routine whenever I try and get revival tickets, always end up ringing them on Monday morning and doing it over the phone. Anyone else struggle with the Goodwood website?

The pit lane rule change is indeed sound reasoning, but there is still potential for cars entering en masse as the pit lane is opened again, so hopefully common sense will prevail among teams if the situation ever arises!

From memory have only ever purchased tickets by phone, as if GRRC member the process seemed more involved on website......

Impressive entry list although what that 4.5 litre Blower Bentley Rep in the Pre War race is odd unless someone is looking for a cheap bed in La Chartre sur la Loire.

Should be a great weekend
