A-A should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Richard Lyons & Team Betta Electrical

"It is not yet clear what will happen to his with Kondo Racing in Formula Nippon and with his job with Nissan alongside Michael Krumm in the Super GT championship. There is speculation that this could lead to an opportunity for Richard Lyons, the 2004 Formula Nippon Champion, to get back into the frontline in Japan. He has been doing occasional races this year in the Australian V8 series with Team Betta Electrical."

This was in a story on grandprix.com in relation to a new 3rd driver at Super Aguri.

Has Richard Lyons been doing testing? Is he in line for an Enduro drive?

Any more info would fill in some blanks for me.

change 'occasional racing' to 'occasional testing' and you'd be on the money - he is teaming up with Alan Simonsen in Car 88 for both enduros this year with Lowndes and Whincup in Car 888

have 2 'outsiders' ever won Bathurst before?

Lyons and Simonsen get to drive a car every bit as quick as the 888 one - a very tidy combo and definitley a dark horse for a major result I would have thought

A very good question. I don't think it has ever happened, but in 1986 & 1987 it certainly came close.

I thought the official word was Lyons/Lowdnes and Wincup/Simonsen...

I'm sure I read a press release somwhere like that.
