Not everything will work and I see it as beneficial to be honest about it. It makes praise for other things (Supercars) ring truer when not everything is positive/ successful

Not sure what can be done on engine noise... the danper package seems to be okay in them, not killing the pilot’s view when they hit kerbs.

There were a couple of drivers that had gotten a handle on them, and were hustling along quite quickly.

The upcoming test day should help the rest of the field get their heads around it all.

To help, they should practise in one of the old V8 utes and leave the handbrake on.

Nothing. The emissions equipment plus turbo muffles the noise.

Did I hear the commentators say the Superutes weigh less than the old V8 utes?

With a lot more Superutes on the grid and some more familiarisation I think the racing could be pretty decent. They seem to move around a bit without necessarily losing too much speed.

The blokes who were having a redhot go, were enjoyable to watch.

More utes, with less of a disparity in performance and talent, make a decent show.

SuperUtes of Yesteryear.

Interestingly the opening of this telecast shows Landcruisers racing. I do not remember that at all.

Whatever happened to the Territory semi offroad series that was mooted about 5 years ago? Recall it being front page on Motorsport News at the time

I remember scoffing at this back in the day but compared to what we are subjected to now it's not too bad........

And check out the list of blokes in the "Bruiser Cruisers" about 55:44 into that youtube clip.

Peter Dane HQ Legend
Trevor Ashby and Steve Reed of Lansvale fame
Rick Bates rally champ
Ron Gillard early 70s sports sedans and
Bob Stansfield one of the early pioneers of off-road racing

Bit of a who's who actually...

These SuperUtes seem quite vulnerable in the front to radiator damage in what looks to be relatively minor crash damage. Do they need bullbars?

That would make the damage on the other car a lot worse.

I got banned from running a Hayman Reese towbar on my HQ because it used to **** peoples cars up if they hit me. Plus it stiffened the car up...

The packaging around the front end is not ideal for the kind of racing they're expected to do.

It's probably worse than the Porsches, where a few cheeky nudges here and there results in pink puddles on the track.
