Le Mans 24 - Online and Streaming Viewing

Any online sites for viewing 24 Hours of Le Mans coverage from North America? Thanks!

Speed usually shows coverage online during their TV breaks. I think they are covering 22 hours this year, so 2 hours should be online.

Audi and Corvette usually have onboard streams at their websites. Links will be posted in the Le Mans 24 race thread when it goes up.

If you have SPEED Channel though on your TV package, that is the best way to watch in North America.

You should be able to find some 'non-official' feeds but I can't endorse that on the forum

If you want radio coverage, Radio Le Mans is the place to be

This should probably become the general streaming thread then. Links will get lost in the race thread anyway.

Ideally, there there would be the official WEC Dailymotion stream, but I don't expect that... since the tv rights are probably separate from WEC rights and this is the race that actually has broadcast demand.

Audi has a countdown (in Silverstone & Spa it was the WEC Dailymotion stream, but now for LM24 it could be just the onboard feed(s)):

http://www.audi-liveracing.com/desktop/index.jsp

Any Australians here? Does Tensport still have the rights like it did last year and also streamed the whole race? Below link will be geo-blocked, but that can be stupidly easily bypassed with a simple browser extension (with Chrome, can post instructions later, this is completely legal if someone is concerned about that):

http://tensport.com.au/motorsport-live-streaming.htm

The ten commentary team have mentioned Le Mans but have not confirmed what the schedule will be. They usually show it through most of our night (start of race for about 1st 6 hours) then normal programmes and show the finish later in the day. That said that was on TV, their online stream could show it all? Not sure what they did last year as I was trackside in France.

If I remember correctly... it was a nonstop no-commentary feed or then nonstop but used Eurosport's commentary.

I'm on holiday in North America during the race, don't think I'm going to be able to keep up with the race so might have to wait until I get back and then get the Radio Lemans podcast and catch up that way

Next year I'm planning my holidays a lot better!

Greg Rust tweeted a week or so ago -"We are streaming it live on the TenSport website."
They streamed it last year and it was great for the whole race, so fingers crossed, they will be doing the same again this year. (plus RLM of course)

^ Thanks. Found the tweet: https://twitter.com/Thrusta1/status/337441612344987648

For sure will again be geoblocked but the same trick from last year will very likely work, since it also works for their F1 streaming:

http://i.imgur.com/kNyn1.png

3. test with some F1 video: http://tensport.com.au/video.htm?movideo_p=47157

This does nothing more than spoofs the site thinking that one is coming from Australia. Nothing illegal in this.
More typical proxy trick would also work, but above is easier and faster and you need to do the settings just once.

That's not going to be live streaming though is it?

As I understand it rights issues prevent fans having the same service as a regular WEC event.

Last year it was a studio stream in French plus about 10 different onboards (two of the Audis, both the Toyotas, one of the OAK cars, the Deltawing and a couple of GT cars of which one was a factory Vette).

I remember this too. But looks like it has gone through a big revamp:

http://www.24h-lemans.com/en/news/20...746_11014.html

"On Sunday 16th June the Le Mans 24 Hours WebTV will start to broadcast to provide live coverage of scrutineering."
"This year, all the surfers who want to follow it will be able to chose from two channels, one entirely in English and the other in French. Thus for 27 hours non-stop (14h00 on Saturday to 17h00 after the following day’s press conference) footage from the on-board cameras in eleven cars this year will be shown."
"To host this WebTV the Automobile Club de l’Ouest has hired specialist journalists and recognized consultants. Pierre Van Vliet, Patrick Rivet, Eric Hélary (winner of the 1993 Le Mans 24 Hours)and Anthony Drevet will run the French studio, while Ben Constanduros, Erin Cechal, Sam Hancock (7 outings in the race as driver) and Dave Spitzer will look after the English side."

But still, the format sounds like it will be studio + onboards + inserts + possibly some actual feed.

Didn't they have a dedicated onboard channel in the FIA GT/Blancpain races? If they did, then they might have a dedicated onboard from the 42 Zytek.

Actually that was not yet mentioned in this thread... in other words: Eurosport Player, this works only in Europe and 1-month subscription costs 5.90 eur:

http://www.eurosportplayer.com

I didn't use it last year. Is it still using Microsoft Silverlight (and not Flash)? What's the best quality option (Megabits)?

So far, either this or the Tensport stream (with the geoblock-bypassing instructions I posted earlier) is the most guaranteed way to watch. The not so legal links will of course start popping up once the sessions start.

Last year I just got the iPad app and it was decent quality. Seems to be £2.99 for a months subscription through iTunes. I will get at some point over the weekend, I don't use it at any other point in the year so only get it for Le Mans. I know it seems a bit odd buying it for something you go to, but it is cheap and will probably get a little watch during practice on the way down.

That magazine... 24 Facepalm-worthy Minutes of Robbie Knock.

Worst thing is of course that they air it while a session or even a RACE is going on (altough according to the Eurosport schedule(s) the race seems to then always move to ES2).

It still uses Silverlight, about the bitrate I'm not sure, and can't check right now. If you really want to know I can tell you tomorrow, I think it was 3000kbits but can't confirm.
Just renewed my suscription for a month a couple of days ago to watch LM, watched some tennis and quality was good.

Hehe. I remember Rob Nock's 24 Minutes in 2011. He seemed incredibly uncomfortable in front of the camera and unsuited for a television show.
