Because thinner oil will have higher flow (volume) for the same pressure  If it is a dry sump you don't really need to worry too much about the Cold (W) rating - you will be warming the oil up before you start. If it is wet sump you need to be aware all oil is too thick at cold anyway and you will warm it up properly before any load goes on the motor. |
