Imagine........

imagine you have just won the lottery or have just won a huge lump of money and youre in the process of starting up your own race team, youre looking to enter either the ALMS or the LMES but more importantly you cant decide what drivers and more importantly again what car you want to buy.

here are the rules

YOU CAN ONLY HAVE 2 CARS AND IF YOU DO THEY HAVE TO BE IN THE SAME CLASS

e.g 2 courage's in LMP1 is fine-------1 porsche GT3 RSR and 1 lola B05/40 is not fine

YOU CAN NOT HAVE THE FOLLOWING CARS

AUDI R10
PESCAROLO C60 JUDD
PORSCHE RS SPYDER

this should make things more interesting to see what teams you can make

YOU CAN HAVE NON USED ENGINE COMBINATIONS

e.g courage LC70 with a zytek V8 in or a lola B06/10 with a judd V10

YOU HAVE TO HAVE ONE GENTLEMAN DRIVER PER CAR

e.g tom chilton, allan mcnish, tom kristensen is a no-no they are pro drivers all fo them however------tom chilton, allan mcnish, bob berridge is fine

here is a summary of the cars for the unintiated

LMP1
courage LC70-the fastest car available however though this car is known for being very unreliable and troublesome

zytek 06S-again another very fast car it does lack a bit on straight line punch with the small zytek engine but its a sure fire choice its fast and reliable

creation CA06H-again another quick car although tyre wear is poor due to this car having smaller wheels and its not the most reliable car

dome HS101-again its right up there with the courages on pace but its heavy on fuel and the dunlop tyres do it no favours and it can be unreliable

lister storm LMP-a not so good car has very poor straigth line speed but it is very reliable and efficient however though on high speed tracks this car is a very poor performer

lola B06/10-rather an uncertain car this in IMSA spec with 60kg less weight this is a very quick car and its very reliable however though in LMES/ACO spec this is a poor performer and is unable to keep with the faster LMP1's

protran-probably the poorest car in the LMP1 class its painfuly slow and is not very reliable

LMP2

lola B05/40-in one word amazing its hugely quick on all tracks and is reliable and efficient probably the obvious choice

radical SR9-its got the legs on the lola's but its not as reliable which is a problem

courage C65-its the dark horse of the LMP2 class and although its getting on a bit now the old gal is still quick and reliable

luchinni XV-in the right hands it can be competitive but unfortunately its got horrific reliability problems

GT1

ALL CARS ARE EVENLY MATCHED ALTHOUGH THE LAMBORGHINI'S ARE AT A SPEED DISADVANTAGE THOUGH

GT2

COMPLETELY EVEN CLASS ALTHOUGH THE PANOZ AND FERRARI'S ARE ALIGHTLY QUICKER THAN THE SPYKER, BMW AND PORSCHE'S

here is my team set it out as i do to make things easier

TEAM NAME-GTsportif wales
CAR CLASS-LMP1
CAR 1-#88 courage LC70 mugen-tom chilton, hayanari shimoda, mike newton
CAR 2-#99 zytek 06S zytek-stephen hodges a.k.a me(so that takes care of the gentleman driver part),nic minassian, jan lammers
TEAM MANAGER-dick bennet
CAR COLOURS-WSR BTCC MG ZS paintscheme from 2006 it is RAC colours in orange with white chevrons on the front and too of the car

fire away lets see your team's

The Real DMN should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Haha quality thread, its something I've thought about for a while and this is exactly what I would do (baring in mind a new team run by someone with no contacts isn't going to get McNish etal);

TEAM NAME- Racing for Yorkshire
CAR CLASS-LMP2
CAR 1-#13 ex-Roll Center Radical (refitted with a Mazda triple rotor renesis engine) - Me, Some young up and coming British GT Driver + Pay driver for longer events
CAR 2-#69 ex-Roll Center Radical (refitted with a Mazda triple rotor renesis engine) - An ecperienced hand + 2 pay drivers

(the 3 Pay drivers are to help cover the costs of running the team during the first year).

TEAM MANAGER- Me
CAR COLOURS- Yorkshire white, plus what ever colours the sponsor has (asuming I find one ).

Hahha, great thread.

ALMS for me with a Zytek 05s with Zytek 3.4l power.
LMES would be a Zytek 07s electrohybrid.........

Drivers ALMS = Shimoda, Brabham and Hignett.
Drivers LMES = McNish, Minassian and Johnny Mowlem (brushing on pro driver - do i get away with it...... )

I think I would pick up a lot of points with them!

Name: Team Ten-Tenths Motorsport

Car: Creation CA06H (spend some serious money getting decent JUDD support and small chassis mods to increase tyre size and improve handelling)

Drivers: Nick Minnasian, Emmanuelle Pirro and Liz Halliday. (Im nearly sure Liz buys her drive, correct me if Im wrong!)

Unlikely to run second car in order to spend money getting the car to the finish.

Creative Running And Positive Motorsport

Lavaggi LMP1 Judd GV5 S2 (it wasn't a big win!) anybody as long as they have budget.

The car would be blue at the back and white at the front with it meeting diagonally up the side.

If I had money, I'd try to get the Mercedes SLR completed into the GT1 class, bad thing mercedes stoped developing it.

Back on topic.
I would race the GT1 class for sure.
I would buy the GT1 cars and knock on the Larbre Competition door to be team assistant manager of my own two cars.
If they stay racing in the LMS or FiaGT, I guess I get my cars over to the ALMS

Maby 1 DBR-9 and 1 C6-R
Otherwise just two DBR-9's
Peter Kox in one car with Jos Menten
Mika Hakinnen or Pedro Lamy with Allard Kalf (that guy is crazy, just for fun) or Gerard Tonnelli

I really like the Larbre DBR-9
So these two would be the same in colour and the french flag over the car. With the numbers 35/36.

Depends on whether a) existing cars or b) new cars (yet not existing) would be allowed:

GT-Eins - Forum Race team
would feature
case a) 2 Saleens GT1 with Ford-Engines (the spec that Oreca & Zakspeed used)
Drivers
Car 1) ( the German) Kaufmann, Kelleners, me
Car 2) ( the austrian) Wendlinger, Peter, Pedrazza

in case of b) change the Saleens for a Pair of GT2-Wiesmanns with the same BMW-unit as the M3-GTR had:

drivers would be the same - team name would change to Wiesmann-factory-team

Its not listed but...

LMP2:
Pilbeam with a Zytek in the back of it

I will be managing the team and I will have
Car 1
David Brabham
Stefan Johannson
Bill Binnie

Car 2
Pierre Bruneau
Jeroen Bleekemolen
Liz Halliday

I will manage the team who will enter whichever series has the least manufacturer supported cars in LMP2 (so the LMS)

The cars will run in striking dark blue livery with a bit of white, possibly yellow through it

Hello

Well if I ever won the lottery, which I never even do then it would be

Team - Nick49 racing (of course)

Colours - something like the Lotus 107 colour scheme (you'll have to look it up)

Class - LMP1

Car - Zytek (thats if I couldn't get Lotus to make me one!)

Engine - Cosworth (or Zytek if Cossie not allowed)

Drivers - Johnny Herbert, Robbie Kerr, Justin Keen, Johnny Kane, Rob Barff and Sam Hignett.

Great thread and believe me I'm wishing it comes true for Christmas

Hmm, if I was running my own outfit with virtually unlimited funding, it'd go something like this:

Cars: Lamborghini Murcielagos (with huge investment, because I won a lot of money and it's my team...) or Zakspeed-spec Saleens

Drivers: Phil Keen/the young Janis fellow/Shaun Balfe and Christophe Bouchut/Marc Lieb/Mike Newton (Phil Keen? The quickest bloke I've ever worked with by miles. He will be a superstar, absolutely no question.)

Colours: Bare carbon fibre, full Jagermeister orange or Bastos.

Manager: Me and Charly Lamm. We'll take a car each.

Nice.
