Mooncraft GT300

http://www.so-net.ne.jp/yuratakuya/c...1211/1211.html

I cannot understand Japanese, but the pics show a nice car, maybe more GTP than GT....

At the beginning of the 80s Mooncraft was responsible for the aerodynamics of Mazda 717 (Gp. C Junior) and also for the very effective conversion kits based on March 73 to 75S that raced in the same class, mainly in JSPC.

I've translated the page with babelfish (japanese to english), it seems it's a sportscar built by Mooncraft during the 70s, it reminds me of a modified GRD raced in Japan by Tetsu Ikuzawa that I saw (in a magazine?) some time ago...

Shiden

This web site describes Shiden.
Moriwaki who was a GRD engineer designed Shiden.
This machine was original and made for Japanese Sport car race at Fuji Speed way.
Noritake Takahara drove Shiden but could not get good results.
Bork work was made by Takuya Yura who is a owner of Mooncraft.
Yura made a Kojima 007 body also.
Takuya Yura is a famous racing car body designer in Japan.

And he has a plan to make special road car now.
Its name is Shiden again.
And one of Honda dealer is planning to run this car at Japanese GT car race.

Welcome at Ten-Tenths forum!
Thank you very much.

This Moriwaki is different from Moriwaki Engineering of MotoG GP team.

Owner of Moriwaki Racing
http://www.ocn.ne.jp/sports/motorspo...x/ms_0230.html

The designer of Shiden
http://ms.bridgestone.co.jp/hp/bsms_...ts_old?coid=50

He was a Honda engineer and moved to GRD.
He is now a director of Nova Engineering and a commentator of F1 GP on Japanese TV.

Sorry both web-site are in Japanese.

You'd think perhaps a Honda dealership running this car, and an ex Honda engineer might be a clue as to what engine this will run. But then again.......

Wow that's quite an interesting thing.

What series is it aimed at running in? To me it looks a little too Prototype-like to be a Super-GT

Mooncraft is also producing (or planning to produce) a road version, however the rules aren't as strict as FIA/LM, if you think about the Vemac and Garaya....

I dunno, the front wheel treatment is similar to the Riley DP, but the front vent is a bit different. The side reminds me of the MkIIIa in some early iterations, and the tail reminds me very much of the Bentley EXP Speed 8 of 2001/2 (as does the greenhouse).

The only reason I would fault the aesthetics is that the sidepods seem a little high, because it's a straight line from the top of the front wheel arch back to the start of the rear wheel arch.

How cool would it be to see the Shiden disigned to comform to Grand- AM DP rules or better yet homologated by FIA to race ALMS... DREAMS..
