While a plausible scenario, Courtney was only able to walk because his salary wasn't paid on time, hence terminating the contract.

Boost being announced less than two days before the Adelaide 500, and after a previous announcement of Pither's Coca-Cola sponsorship (with Courtney's car number and name!?), suggests it was never a major naming rights sponsorship deal.

@supercarschampionship snr management along with @visitnsw @sydneymotorsportpark if they don't step in and give it to a team that will commit to guaranteed funding, a snr team who has the management and staff to support it and cars that are not made from the spare parts division of @redbullholden ...

an attempted takeovers that failed ?

i do not get this as the best holden team
and cars that are not made from the spare parts division of @redbullholden

holden spare parts division of @ FPR or DJRTP

Courtney's rocket appears to be same rebodied Tekno VF that Le Brocq was displeased with in 2019, while Pither's rocket is the crashed Holdsworth Team 18 VF that was rebuilt for use as a ZB aero test car. While prepared at 888, there is little indication it is the same specification as the current Whincup or van Gisbergen cars.

Hence Adderton's suggestion that both Team Sydney cars are nothing more than cobbled together 888 surplus inventory of old specification bits.

Adderton and Boost mobile are getting great "good guy" publicity, the value of any future sponsorship commitment to Courtney has already been covered with the exposure he and his company are getting from this whole sad affair.

Really? Are you going to go and sign up to a new phone plan based on that debacle?

Well I would argue there is. Given the (Deserved) reputation the telecomunications industry as a whole has, as a company wouldnt you want to try really hard to avoid creating any negative headlines of the sort generated by the GRM and Team Sydney deal terminations? The opposite appears to be the case.

GRM was a respected team, with a well loved character of a team owner.
Team Sydney is a dog with fleas and with JC giving it the whole "it was a loveless marriage" speil, the bigger mistake would have been to continue on with the rolling shambles that is Team Sydney and not take the obvious out.

From what I can gather the two chassis Team Sydney are running are:
888-044 built by Triple 8 for Team 18 to replace the chassis destroyed in Darwin injuring Lee Holdsworth. It was used by Team 18 from Mid 2016 & all of 2017 as a VF Commodore. It was upgraded to a ZB Commodore at the start of 2018 by Team 18 and used all season. It was traded in on a younger chassis for Team 18, so Triple 8 had it as a spare chassis for 2019, but not used except for the VACT testing at the end of 2019, start of 2020.

888-051 built by Triple 8 for Tekno as a ZB Commodore at the start of the 2018 season and was Jack Le Brocq's mount for 2018 & 2019.

As far as I am aware neither these chassis have been used by Triple 8 at a race meeting. Both are customer chassis. I do not know if they were built as a complete car or a rolling chassis and what version of uprights have been used.

I am still trying to ascertain which chassis is run as Car 19 & Car 22.

I wasnt advocating continuing, merely leaving with some semblance of decorum.

Pither wrecked his own career long ago when he drove into the side of Paul Weel

Coca Cola were all ready to sponsor HRT when they went with Gardner when he left HRT at the end of '93 or so the story goes.

Didnt HRT “sack” Gardner after they caught wind of him talking to their sponsors (or prospective sponsors) behind their back.

Why was Gardner benched from the 1993 Drink/Drive 500 at Sandown?

The story according to Gardner, was that he was asked to use his contacts to bring in sponsorship. Thus he was able to secure Coke, but in return wanted an equity stake in the team. Tom Walkinshaw thumbed his nose at this, so Gardner established WGR.

The reason given for Gardner's benching was that he had approached HRT's sponsors for his own team including Castrol. Ironically at the same time, HRT was in discussion with Mobil, which ultimately led to the relationship with Castrol being severed.

sounding like Courtney was pushed from wau
https://www.motorsport.com/v8superca...efuse/4734566/

Walkinshaw also revealed that the plan to sign Mostert was years in the making.

"Two years ago I spoke to Chaz's ex-manager Dave Ellis," he explained.

"We were having a beer and I said 'when is Chaz off contract?'
