Panoz
Apart from involvement in the DeltaWing project, what are Panoz up to these days? Anything?

Don, probably on golf course spending all the cash he got for selling ALMS and circuits he owned to the NASCAR overlords.
The race team, ummmm. Just the unregulated thing they're running in IMSA. The company: http://www.elangroup.com/index.php?o...tpage&Itemid=1 Sports side they specifically mention constructing safety crash cells and anti-intrusion panels. |

There's some people on this forum that are close to "HQ" that may have some incite outside their webpage, but The Don has been counting his money on the links long before selling to the Darkside.

The ugly DeltaWing seems like a sad end for a once-great team.

At PLM last year, didn't they basically fix MSR'S LMP2 tub? So I guess they have some competent people and supply storage in house.
Btw on that webpage, they proudly list the Abruzzi first in their motorsport achievements. Heheh |

The Abruzzi was not a pretty car.

They are still building road cars. They recently turned one of the GT1 cars into a road legal car too.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of Esperante GTLM's surprise LMGT2 class win at Le Mans. And that was long before BoP & proam times, so what anchievement from the little obscure make indeed.

It sounded fantastic, but that's like saying "she's a nice girl."
BS. You'd buy a Mazda 6. Last edited by fieldodreams79; 19 Jan 2016 at 14:43. |

There is a nice Sparks 1:43 10th Anniversary Team LNT Esperante GTLM model out now. The Panoz team also won the 12hrs of Sebring that year in a similar car and the spring ALMS race at Road Atlanta (G.P. of Atlanta) as well.

The Don appeared on Jay Leno's garage with the 25th anniversary Esperante last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S5p9rF1aC_g

I was at Chateau Elan watching the 24 Hours of Le Mans while sitting next to Danny Panoz on Speed Channel. Suddenly, fairly early in the race, a Panoz was leading when the leaders ducked in for fuel and tires and the Panoz kept going. Danny jumped up and yelled, "A Panoz is leading Le Mans! I bet Don is going bonkers!" I got to share a few of the early historic moments as Don bought RA, started the ALMS and created the Petit Le Mans. Quite a few accomplishments in addition to discovering the Nicotine Patch! It is was and still is important to him that he built a name and legacy for his family, especially, Danny's interest in building cars and getting Don involved in racing. It's a great story, IMO. |

I never particularly liked Leno's personality, but his enthusiasm is in right place. |

Its too bad the Panoz motorsport group is wasting their time with that stupid delta wing where they could work on a new 2016 version of the old Panoz GTR1. That would be able to compete in GTLM or GT3. That would make people excited. Instead we have to put up with the eye sore that we have seen enough of since 2012 now.
