information about Bender Special in 1919 Indy 500?
I am looking for information about the Bender Special that finished 5th in the 1919 Indy 500. My grandfather was in the pit crew I think (I have pictures of him with the car, driver, owner and others in the pit crew). I am looking for any information about the car and how my grandfather may have become involved with the car! I would be willing to share copies of the pictures I have to anyone interested. I have given copies to the Indianapolis Speedway Museum already as they didn't have pictures of the driver in the car which my pictures show.
Hopefully someone will know something about this car and crew or know where I can find out more about them! |

Tom Alley apparently built a racing car for the Pan-American company, on which the Bender was based. Its major feature was Miller 4 cylinder SOHC engines.
