billnchristy should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Daytona Test Days 4-7 Jan

http://www.grandamerican.com/Events/Event.asp?ID=132

No ontrack action tomorrow, just loads of announcements.

There are a strongly rumored 71 cars entered for the test, the list will come out when the teams get the chance to make their announcements.

Teams have been making announcements left and right for driver combos for the 24. Another international display of talent will be on hand for sure.

All practice sessions will be on live timing.

There might be some interesting suprise teams too.

I'm pretty sure he did nab the most fastest laps during the season, but there were other drivers who had fastest laps as well. The higher-revving engines may also do well at Daytona, the Porsches have that new drop gear, and there is some unusual (i.e. just for the 24) competition. It will be unsurprising if Angelelli is fastest, but not astonishing if he isn't, IMO.

For the Rolex 24 I assume you mean. By the supplemental regs only the fastest thirty cars in each of the two classes over two days of qualifying are guaranteed to start, with the addition of the full-season entrants and anyone else G-A and the promoter see fit to add. Theoretically some may fail to qualify for the race.

80 cars seems like a sure thing now. I've alsoheard of a few cars that will be at the 24 that won't be here for Test Days. I think at least 85 cars will try to make the field this year. with a huge GA Cup field thrown into the mix, both paddocks are going to be tight. I guess too many cars is a good problem to have.

I know of 1-2 cars that are not on this entry list that will most likely be at the 24 hours.. So 80 total does seem pretty realistic.. Going to be VERY crowded!! hehe

The first round goes to GAINSCO/Blackhawk, with one of Gurney, Moran, or Vasser setting the fastest time of the first session. The top ten times span 0.8s, the top three 40ms. Nice showing from the Brumos Porsche FABCAR in fourth-quickest at 0.13s back. Full results should be online fairly soon.

Check out the #58 Brumos Fabcar; 2nd quickest in the 2nd session. That Fabcar EVO package seems to be a vast improvement.

If they do the split class start at the 24, the leaders are going to be into traffic in a hurry.

Yeah, Alex Gurney may have won the first day, but it's looking like SunTrust, presumably with Angelelli driving, will win the second day and possibly the whole test.

Hmm, Brumos fastest in the last session with a 1:43.953. AJR third fastest with a 1:44.092. The Porsche-powered DPs are looking good.

Rocky Moran Jr. killed the GAINSCO Riley though, and has taken a little side trip to hospital. Awake and alert but with neck pain. Looks like Fernandez may have broken a car too as they did only the first forty minutes of the session.

Ah, Moran's going to have to wear a soft collar for a while but is cleared for the 24.
