Laser Formula Ford 1600 HD86 or ?

Hi there - I am new in here.

I just have a good opportunity to rebuild a Laser Formula Ford 1600, however I don't know what model it is ?

I can see this is not a HD87, as the front end has slight different shape.

Any help will be appreciated and I really want to know what model I am going to work to.

Many thanks
Tony

Cliff Dempsey in Ireland used to race an 86 laser years back. You could maybe ask the question via the Cliff Dempsey Racing website?

Speak to Howard Drake

Does or used to run a van / truck sale site on the road behind dartford karting I believe.

Sure you could track him down

Nice to see another Laser around, we have an HD87 .
I hope you fit in it, ours is rather small - my size 7 feet barely fit in the pedal box! We tried to get in touch with Howard Drake to ask about spares, but were unsuccessful - if you manage to get hold of him could you post again?

Hi,

I think you will find that the model you have might be a HD85. I have the same model. My one was driven for the first time by Peter Rogers in the 1985 Formula Ford Festival. I have a DVD of the entire meeting, Johny Herbert won the final with Damen hill coming third, Mark Blundel punted my car off at Druids which was running forth a few laps from the finish. I have met Howard when he helped set up a friends Elden a few years ago. I will try a find out his contact details.

Regards Keith.

I think Pete must have had a target painted on his gearbox as a year later Paul Warwick had a go as well!!

Hi
I know the post has seemed to have stopped but I've come across ten tenths by chance as I'm just getting a FF out from under a lot of stuff in the garage. I bought it as a Laser HD88, and I'd been told that the laser factory burnt down in 88 with only 3 cars made. Actually I can't seem to find out if this is true or not. My car is white with a little blue on it but needs a fair amount of work to put it together, that's what I'm about to start so I'm trying to gain some information on it or history or links or ideas where I can find some of this stuff out.
Hope someone out there can help me
thanks
John
