Maria Teresa de Filippis

Sadly, another legend passes this mortal coil

Amazing lady and very quick in her day.

An excellent obit in the DT, here:

Rest in peace, Maria

Telegraph annoys me when they use obits as later 'in-fill' - Maria actually passed away on January 8th.

Can't believe I hadn't heard. Nearly fell out of my seat when I saw her name in this forum.

Yes - that was my point; it has taken the Telegraph a month to get around to printing the obit (see link).

Thanks, Rob.

Main reason I posted this was the passing of a legendary figure, who not only enjoyed the golden years of real F1 Grand Prix racing (And, drove one of my favourite cars, the 250F - which incidentally, Sir Stirling Moss agreed with me was one of the finest GP cars ever made and his favourite too!), Maria met and mixed with some of the true greats, including Nuvolari, Fangio, Jean Behra, et al

Worth recalling the 1958 championship, perhaps?
