Well, it could be argued that comfort and fit are important to racers who spend an hour or more in the car at a time. And of course we don't get the high cockpit temps in the UK that those in warmer climes do, so breathability and lightness aren't vital. It's just that you & I don't race in the environment where such properties are required.
BTW MGD, your racesuit is Italian design, branded for a Swiss company |

A bit off topic I know, but I was planning a shopping spree to GPR at Silverstone before the season starts. Does anyone know if there is an alternative, other than a trip to Wrexham? Would much prefer to try a selection of helmets on, rather than too & fro -ing with mail order. And,
Yes, for those who know me, I am taking to the track this year!!!!!!!! Thanks, Joyce |

Where are Rally Design I often use them and find their price very competitive but I do it by mail order, did get a helmet too small from them and they changed it immediately and did'nt recharge me postage, good shop also Merlin down at Castle Combe circuit seem OK.

[QUOTE=falcemob]You should have gone to the ASI international show and tried them on there. Do tell us more about your changing sides.

I hardly think I'm likely to be a threat to anyone on the grid, especially you! Am sharing my other half's X300 Automatic! Road legal. nice air-con, tape deck, heater!!!
He races in the saloon championship, so I will go into the powered by or possibly we may do a 40min race. Just feel that having been given the chance to have a go, I would regret turning down the opportunity while I'm still fit enough to do it. |

That sounds good Joyce, I look forward to seeing you out and about next year. The only problem you may have sharing the car is the tyres he will have to run on wont be very competitive in the PBJ series.

Might have to ask for a set of tyres for my birthday- How romantic! Not looking to set the world alight, just to have fun & not get in the way. It will be loke racing with a black/white flag at every marshals post.
Sorry, seem to have hi-jacked thread. Still not sure where to go shopping, perhaps a trip to AWS might be in order. Shame GPR was only an hour down the road. |

I've split off the 'state of the economy' type posts to a new thread in Parc Fermé.
Honestly, if you guys could drive cars as fast as you go off topic, you'd be F1 world champions by now Last edited by Chris Y; 21 Jan 2009 at 11:28. |

Does anyone have any idea what is to become of the London and Silverstone branches of GPR?
Are we likely to see one of the big UK motorsport distributors buy it as a new outlet? Have all of the old GPR staff got new jobs? |

That's like asking what is to become of all the Woolworths branches and have all the old staff got jobs.

If anyone has any news on who ends up buying the GPR stock and/or customer/supplier list, let me know.
