It is worth mentioning that whilst we are struggling to get enough marshals to give adequate safety cover at some meetings, it would seem silly to use a valuable souce to become the driver of a car being towed, thus leaving the marshals crew short staffed. If the driver cannot be bothered to stay with his/her car until the end of the race, then retrieval of their car should not be made easy.
Yes, I agree with Steve. A couple of seasons ago, I hd a driver leave his car in the kitty litter at 4a (Bottom of Paddock) BH. He had to return to the Paddock to speak to his Sponsor! As the Obs on Post 4a, (No Roger - it was n't a BRSCC Meeting); I shouted after him - 'Get back, or else your car will be dragged to behind Graham Hill bend and you may collect it after 1830 hours! He soon came back!!
We can not afford, these days, to 'lose' a Marshal of Post to 'play recovery'.

One of the nasty accidents I have heard about they used the above method except that the strap had a hook on the end of it. When the driver let go of the strap the hook hooked.
