GT Legends

I must have been under a rock for the last couple of months. I've just been looking up on this GT Legends thing I keep hearing about. I stumbled across a preview and I noticed that RSC already has a sub-forum set up!

http://www.1up.com/do/previewPage?cId=3141029&did=1

I keep reading a release a date of October, but is that the German release or perhaps Atari will take on the UK distribution from the off perhaps?

What do we think about this peeps?

I for one quite like the look of it!

i personally won't be buying it unless Simbin sort the online issues with GTR out first. At the moment they don't seem to want to support it and a great game is being damaged in the process....

They released 3 or 4 patches and 2 free add-ons. How's that for not supporting then?

On GTL, been following the news around this one as well. Reviews are also starting to appear so it's not far I hope.

Is this to be released in the same way as GTR (he said shocked). I thought it was going to be another download like Thundercars )or whatever they're called.....)

Because they still haven't fixed the problems. Glossing them over with free oval add-ons doesn't wash. The heavily advertised it as a multiplayer game yet so many people are having huge issues with on-line play. No patch has addressed that.

Not true, the patches HAVE improved online performance. I'm not saying it's totally sorted but they have addressed online play issues with all the patches.

I do think you have a point there with your comment about the advertising, clearly getting some people's hopes up very high and have them be very critical in their judgement. This hasn't helped Simbin at all.

Anyway, GTR is a great game imo and the mediocre multi just doesn't weigh in as heavily as its strong points, which are just about all the other aspects.

I must admit I don't really run on public servers and I know the multiplayer does have a few gripes, mainly with the pace car.

Once we're underway though it seems to be fine. A patch would be nice though, although I guess Simbin will get flack regardless. I remember the big flare up over on RSC about there not being a dedicated server version, which Simbin then released.

Even GPL needed a few patches to get to where it is now.

As for GT Legends, if they can get the handling, the sounds and atmosphere like it is on GTR, but with classic cars I'll definitely be getting it I think.

So forgive my ignorance, but is this a wholly new sim which will be available for purchase independent of GTR? Or a bolt-on?

Its an independent purchase as far as I know, but I'm a bit of a sucker so I'll probably end up buying it.

It's a standalone title with more cars than GTR had and new and updated tracks plus a new graphics engine and a lot of other stuff. Enough to justify it as a proper game in my book

Although the GTL demo hasn't 'officially' been released yet (rumour has it that it will be released later today), some people have been able to download it already, after it was 'leaked'.

Ok, ok, you can get it here: http://www.car-ev.de/GTL/GTLDemo.exe

I hope you have better luck than most , i have not been one of those slating Simbin in the other forums, but as i cant get the demo to work/run despite following all the guides given by various people on nearly all the forums.
I am bitterly disappionted that i cant try it.
As you know i allready have GTR and have no problems running that.

At least it looks like i shall be saving my money with this one

After looking forward to it for ages.

I have problems running the demo too - I can't currently load the RSC website to ask for hints and tips, but that's a different topic (one I've posted a thread here about since I can't ask RSC about the problem).

I was disappointed a little bit by GTR - they claimed it was totally accurate, and largely it wasn't - particularly with the sounds dept (very nice quality sounds, but mostly nothing like what the real FIA GT cars sound like!).

The problems with the demo is hardly helping SimBin's cause...
