The GT Audi 'device' at the Paris show
I have to say that Audi concept 'R8' GT car unveiled at Paris motorshow looks a bit of a belter eh what?
Is this another car that might makes it's way to GT's, possibly as a GT3 contender in a couple of years? |

It is a shame (from a marketing POV) that they have waited until the R8 has retired to associate with the name.
It has been testing quite a bit, often with Lambo wheels I think. How related is it to the Lambo (only guessing). |

the same as the RS4: 4.2 V8 FSI with 420 hp
later it will get the 5.2 V10 FSI, maybe with turbos |

Yep I can see it now, 2010 Bathurst 24Hour, BJ and AJ in an Orix Audi R8 GT3.....seriously, I like it, and thought the promo video was brilliant.

It looks more like a touring car than a GT car. IMO. Something at last to replace the ageing Audi TT?

Um, er, no.
The road going R8 as seen at Paris is a £75k GT car aimed at the 911/Aston V8 market, due to hit our shores early in the new year I think. The "ageing Audi TT" has just been replaced by a new TT, already in Audi showrooms across the land. In more breaking motoring news, we learn the Morris Marina is to be replaced by the Ital...

wow, fantastic video, it's realized very accurately, the R8 is cool, looks futuristic, though it reminds me a bit of murcy and gallardo

But why did they call it R8? Surely that's just going to confuse people! Why not R9??

I'm not normally one to ressurect an old thread but.....
... saw an R8 on the A40 in High Wycombe yesterday morning and I have to say it looked great! (That's the road car R8 not the Le Mans R8 that we know and love.... I'd love a road legal version of that!!) |
