I would be surprised if its as little as that, then again if you leave a bunch of unpaid bill's around, maybe that is roughly what he actually parted company with.

Given McLaughlin Snr allegedly sold the family firm to Toll for $25million I wouldn’t have thought “debt” was the right adjective..... But then again, given that sort of financial wherewithal would appear to make the unpaid bills a conscious decision rather than a necessity, perhaps “debt” relates to what was consciously left unpaid..
Be interesting to know the thinking behind the decision/s.
Whatever the reason/s, I do find it kind of sad that as a parent he’s willing to risk his Son’s (pretty awesome) reputation, over what seems like a comparatively small chunk of change.

After seeing that you can't help but feel for this poor battling Kiwi family. Forced to drive old cars to help further their sons career. Tragic....

$250K isn't very much. What class was Scott racing in at that time??

Crippling other businesses for personal gain isn't very cool. How do the personal sponsors take this association??

Wow!! Is that a denial of true debt?

Scott clearly takes after his Mum, as opposed to the guy who takes no prisoners....in so many ways

Scraping the memory banks, but this would've been Bathurst '14, or the year before.

Interesting that this was mentioned on Enforcer & The Dude's podcast as well...

McLaughlin Rejected For SBR Enduro Seat

Choice of phraseology by the pilot is curious... "I remember getting dragged into Ross Stone’s office at Yatala..." when his expectation was to be given an SBR enduro seat...

Perhaps the difficulties as per the subject of this thread were known and impacted the driver selection even then...

Yep good point. McLaughlin made that start to his career in those circumstances and look what has happened since, he’s come a long way

Chances are that's on money, but we'll never the know the full story.
