I think it's easy to forget just how all-encompassing F1 is to more casual motorsports fans or the public in general. Almost no-one outside of the specific series he's raced in will know who Andre Lotterer is. Winning the F1 title a quarter of a century ago means Villeneuve is not as well known as he would if he'd won 5 years ago, but compared to his team mates (no offence meant to either of them) he's Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin combined, and they're Michael Collins. |

Well, Lamborghini will have 2 former F1 drivers in their team, so it stands to reason...

I heard Maldonado was in Kolles's view, but looks like that fell through.

I thought it was the Isotta Fraschini factory he visited?
Could be both, he hasn't had a drive in a while now iirc. |

Didn't see that coming. Hopefully Vautier gets up to speed quickly with Vanwall. He's already got the V part in his name going for him

Vautier is gonna be much quicker than JV, it's the 'staying-out-of-trouble' bit I'm not convinced about but I'm happy to be proven wrong.

Let's face it, they just needed someone a little faster and younger. Vaultier just fits the bill.
Hopefully, JV should take a lesson from Johan Ritter from "Le Mans", "... It's the right time to stop." Last edited by veeten; 25 May 2023 at 15:03. |

JV was in over his head from the prologue, a lot of it wasn't his fault, but he needed to be quicker.

I mean what's next, entering a left-hand pit lane with the right turn blinkers on...
next stop, Shady Pines... |

He has, but I'd still trust a driver with speed and a tendency to bin it over a driver with no speed (increasing the chance of being involved in a crash).
Well done Vautier for getting the drive. I hope Villeneuve takes it in the right way. |

Talent doesn't disappear, but he's not really been racing enough over the last decade, and the racing he has done hasn't really been relevant to these type of cars. |

I'm not convinced. I still have memories of him appearing to be the weakest link in the driver squad at Peugeot.

It's an interesting decision. It seems that he just can't adapt to sportscars and is never going to be good at those as he was in single seaters, even if he hasn't been that bad.

Shame for Villeneuve. Was looking forward to his stints at LeMans.

Isn't he like 15 kg or even more overweight?
Could be a factor maybe. |

Quite a lot of people don’t like to be nice. Especially when it comes to JV they prefer to be nasty people.

Not necessarily, Jacques was always well known for his baggy racesuits. That material has to weigh a bit, you know....

Well he is racing else where so they must think he is still good. It is a pity he will not be in t he vanwall but let us hope the car performs well against the factory cars

Read on his twitter account the absence is because he just had his child. Congratulations to him.
