The video is from Fiorano, while the article posted by Bandicoot is claiming that picture was taken from Mugello.

Looks like the above picture is a follow up test to the video you posted above.

There's is little to say that this has anything to do with a P1 project, other than the LaFerrari link which was allegedly made by di Montezemolo.

I find it strange that they made some type of effort to camouflage the bodywork since they are testing the powertrain.

Idea stemmed from how it just looks really awkwardly angled. But probably just photo-from-a-printed-paper trickery to eyes.

The stand out thing for me is the changes in bodywork, why the additional spoiler and splitter?

The 2015 California will have a 3.8L Turbo Engine as well as the replacement of the 458.

And the big V12 in the LaFerrari is almost not worth it(too long and heavy!!!) except the fans love the sound of a NA V12.

So they might do a second batch with a V8 Turbo to beat the P1.

I have to wonder if it is a mule being used to test the F1 engine, as a way around the F1 testing rules. Who is going to question what that is, and that way they get a ton of testing done.

Yeah, looked to me quite a lot like a normal LMP1 "greenhouse"/cockpit. As well as the door/window arrangement.

Naw, the cockpit is different, but way too wide for a current P1... looks a lot like something you might have seen in GT1 by the year 2000 or so had the class lasted till then.

Thinking a bit outside the box: Would Ferrari have any interest in doing Pikes Peak now that it's fully paved?

Nope, Pikes Peak is still a rally event.
Also, Ferrari isn't the "first movers" of motorsport, we won't see them racing in anything before their competitors does.
