Sirius Motorspo should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Similarly with the usual length of stints for the GT3-cars on the Nordschleife, it makes no sense to run 4 drivers in the regular VLN-races as you would have to seriously compromise your strategy to give all of them the same driving time.
Sorry..Typo on the GT Masters numbers, but if you can attract semi-experienced gentlemen racers, for instance 2 Bronze and 2 Silver, to the VLN it´s still a decent business leaving the GT Masters to be your prime target ?

Yup, but like FIA GT3, the definition of who's a pro and who not is a little iffy, so teams get away with pairing fast youngsters with pros or having line-ups completely made up of young hotshoes like Abt did this year.

With the still somewhat limited level of attention the series is getting pro-pro is probably financially not viable yet, anyway - you'd need some serious outside sponsorship for that.

Depending on your race experience you should expect numbers around 130-160.000 Euros (Phoenix, ABT & Mühlner numbers) including catering for 6 sponsors each race, but without damage, travel and accomodation expenses.

I`d like to see more Vipers, Ferraris, maybe a Morgan.. wasn't the GT3 formula designed to make all these cars competitive?
If Ascari gave the same level of support and R&D as the others do, then they would still run it. You shouldn't have to "dumb" down a series so a small manufacturer can be competitive, when other small companies don't need that sort of help, just better engineers I guess.

Cars so far entered for the 2011-season, as per this article:

6x Mercedes SLS
5x Audi R8LMS
5x Lamborgini Gallardo
10x Porsche (not sure if all GT3R or some Cup-cars)
1x Ferrari
4x Corvette

Entries from BMW, Alpina and Dodge are also expected... That's a huge field!

Good numbers overall though.

Team Liqui Molly Engstler to field a pair of Alpinas

Kinda strange, as they've already bought a Z4 and ran it at Dubai...

Also, a new engine for the Alpina - out goes the supercharged 4,4l V8, in goes a Dinan BMW Daytona Prototype engine...

How is that possible? rules must be pretty flexible-unless the Dinan engine is based on the same engine that was in the Alpina without the supercharger?

The engine rules are indeed pretty flexible - I think you're fine as long the engine is from the same manufacturer. BMW was allowed to switch from the I6 to the V8 in the Z4 after all...

Do they get to use the Dinan engine that got teams in a little bit of trouble last year, or the current GA deemed "legal" engine?

Really? Thats not bad considering I assumed they were running to FIA GT3 regs, could lead to some interesting combinations if people had time and money.

And they're not on the entrylist yet...

But 37 cars is a good number, I wish Australian GT had a field like that , it kinda helps I guess if half the cars in the field are built in the same country. Great to see the Viper still being raced.
