Monaco Grand Prix in the U.S. Apparently nobody is going to air it.

Speed is not going to air the Monaco race in the U.S. (not even tape delayed). Apparently ABC got the rights to this race only to block it's transmission, so nobody could compete with the INDY 500 on may 26. Does anybody know if ABC or any of it's affiliates is going to air the race (even if it's tape delayed). I Can't believe they do this to the fans.

Thats a bit cheeky isn't it? And I would've thought highly illegal (restrictive practices and all). And is this the poof we need that FOA thinks of money before fans?

Maybe they'd just as soon not air it so that when the race is fixed their fax machines and phone lines won't be quite so tied up?

I think it's a good idea not to run it. That will give some people the chance to break their addiction a step at a time. It's for your own good, you know.

The Monaco Grand Prix is scheduled to run on ABC at 3:30 (EST) p.m. on Sunday. This should be a national broadcast, so I'm not sure what zetta is talking about.

Where did you find that listing? In the TV Guide for my area it shows only the INDY 500, and a blank space after the race. Do you mean it's going to run immediately after the INDY 500?

I believe Zealot is correct, and that Speed will show their version a week later. I would be horrified if we weren't able to watch it. I know that practice is being shown at 7:00 EST on Thursday and, I believe, qualifying at the same time on Saturday. I dread watching ABC's coverage, however; if it's anything like as inane as the coverage of the USGP last year, it'll be the sort of thing which makes one squirm on one's couch in embarrassment and anger.

I just checked Speed Channel's site, and they are indeed scheduled to show their rebroadcast at 8:00 on June 2. So all is not lost.

zetta, check tvguide.com for your local ABC affiliate. If it's not there, make sure to call them immediately and start pressuring them to air it, otherwise, they may decide to show that Oxyclean infomercial again.

Calm down folks. ABC was running trailers for the GP yesterday while they broadcast the rain at Indy. They are showing Monaco at 3:30m EST on next Sunday, or, starting whenever the Indy race is over. We will all say a silent prayer for good weather at Indy.

That was one of the first things that I checked. It will be on at 3:30. The other issue is. How will they present it. I am a bit worried because it is to follow live coverage which might go longer than planned. What if the race does not end till 3:30 will we still get full F1 coverage. Well I guess I can just stay offline and not watch TV for a week so when speed shows it I will be surprised.
