One of the greatest allround drivers has gone . His results are amazing , as 1 driver who won Le Mans24 hr race , and Monte Carlo rally Just checking , am now not sure about winning Le Mans , but he did win a lot of others . Last edited by Tel 911S; 13 Mar 2022 at 19:30. Reason: additional info |

I shall raise a glass at Sebring in a few days time. 51 years after he won.

Growing up in Central Florida, between Daytona & Sebring, Vic was an early childhood hero. I became a fan of the 917, and Quick Vic featured in our local media.
May he R.I.P. |

The toughest of guys in an era of tough guys . Imagine the sensation now if a driver won Monte Carlo Rally , Daytona 24 Hours and Targa Florio, then finish 4 th in his debut GP , in the wet , in a crap car .

I know it's inevitable, as Elford's star shone so long ago , but it is tragic that his death attracts just 8 comments. And if Lewis were to stub his thus weekend the story would break the internet and create at last a dozen conspiracy theories . (Did George trip him up ? )
Bloody tempus fugit innit.. |

I quite agree. I started a thread on another forum to celebrate his remarkable 50 anniversary of winning both Monte & Daytona - it attracted very little interest.
However, plenty of professionals in the sport have commented, which was good to see; they recognise the quality he had. |
