Quattro,
The 'Debbie style' cars reffered to are cars of the slower, less funded variety. Personafied by the Deborah team, last seen in 2000. It was always a treat to see the millions spent on Toyota, Mercedes and Audi with there pits and trucks lined with carbon fibre and stainless steel everywhere, then to look in the Deborah truck and see wooden racks and a car sitting on a wooden platform. Bit's of engine sitting on the floor. But the team were alway smiling and happy, smoking their cheap French cigarettes. But that's the beauty of Le Mans. |

Debbie style not dead...
Dear Stu, you've said almost everything...
For our friend, we can add that some cars could be in the "debbie style" or "debbie speed" (very slow ), and make one year stuning... see the early WM - now WR - some rubbish years, some fireworks : they have the speed record in the Mulsanne Straight (405 km/h, with Roger Dorchy), and the two poles in 1995... then nothing... but that's the pleasure of Le Mans, there's nothing sure before the end, and a dully race at the start can make your day the sunday after... |
