Why the FIA didn't consider Johnny's role in the press as being a probable conflict of interest, I don't know. Someone wasn't doing their job IMO.

Seems strange they are only dropping him now. They knew Herbert’s role for ages, so IDK why they waited this long

Other sites are linking his removal with his association with gambling sites.

Not a fan or supporter of current FIA leadership, but if it really is about a steward and their ties to gambling sites then imo that’s a conflict. More so if he’s appearing on those platforms as an expert…I’m assuming JH picked the job he wanted more?

Therefore, Motorsport.com understands that it is his continued deals with betting companies that have led to Wednesday’s development.

So I think it has come to light following an interview given to a website that is also related to gambling. The website in question was Casinoutanspelpaus.io - the interview can be found here - https://casinoutanspelpaus.io/okateg...ert-interview/

Which does raise the question - are all F1 personnel not permitted to talk to a company that has a gambling element?
All F1 personnel need to be very careful next time they are in Las Vegas......

To be fair, having a deal with a gambling company, and having the ability to change race results is a conflict of interest.

I agree - it was just that the articles I have seen so far have only referred to comments given to gambling sites (in interview), not that he was being paid by them.

Mind you, F1 itself and some teams are/were sponsored by cryptocurrency, a theater of industry known for being mostly nothing but scams and people getting ripped off.

for sure but also why no one would suggest allowing an employee of one of those teams to officiate over an event. the appearance or potential for impropriety is to great to ignore imo.

i dont want this to sound like i think JH is a bad guy...i dont know all the facts, (and it seems like the reporting on this has so far been uneven at best) but given the ubiquitousness of sports betting in all sports now days, i cant imagine JH is the only one walking between these lines.

Well... that is about someone else's (shady) scheme to extract money from other people and not about potentially screwing up your own scheme (F1) to extract money from other people.

So just look the other way while people are scammed by crypto bros.

Very cynical thought there, but I wouldn't put it past Jos to have had a word with the FIA. Whether it actually influenced the decision is another matter

The FIA are to introduce tighter testing on flexing wings from this season, after saying that they were satisfied with the testing last year. It will be phased in with rear wings being subject to new tests from Australia, with front wings from June in Spain.
