Why the angst between bike marshals and car marshals?

Ive just coem home from my 5th car event, marshalling at it.
Been involved in bikes since i was a child.

It is quite different but i have to say im enjoying every minute.
There is only 1 or 2 marshalls in Mondello Park that marshall at both bike and car events.

At the end of the day we are there for the competitors safety, and indeed sometimes the spectators.
There will always be opinions.. Thats life.

there are 4 of us that have done car marshaling at Oulton and anglesey for this year, and have all got our green badges, However we are thinking of doing some bike events as well next year,
I have what i think is a bit of an advantage because i have owned 46 bikes, mainly off road, the biggest was a YZF750R, i have raced most of them, and have Pit crewed for a sidecar unit at darley moor,Mallory,anglesey and 3 sisters.
We just got to work out who to contact to organise what training is required. preferably at Oulton park.

I was on holiday in the Isle of Man this year and visited the grandstand and of cause drove the TT circuit. Having talked to some friends I have there, I found out how short they are for marshals. So I e-mailed the Isle of Man marshals club offering my services and have had no reply. Now if they are so desperate why have they not replied? Is it because I normally marshal cars?
I just wanted to help them out and maybe gain some experience.

Actually I can think of about 10 that were out yesterday that do both. Unfortunately due to time presssures I know that EP and I haven't done as many bike events as we'd want to this year.

Well they musnt do many bike events because i know the regular bike marshalls and i didnt recognise any!
I do know that a few do both but im just pointing out that its not frequent ya see it.

I got ridiculed for joining the track team by bikers but heck i love it!!
And my first day marshalling at cars i only knew 1 other marshall!!

i was at hottrax last weekend and this weekend at silverstone for the bsb.
i was made to feel part of the team and enjoyed myself. friendly bunch are race safe Even convinced me into thinking of joining them. and i normally do cars.
