This is THE BEST news. Mat Jackson is surely the best driver on the grid never to have won the championship. Been watching some of the BTCC reviews in the off season, the way he just turns up in a private BMW and is straight at the front just proves his raw talent.

So pleased he's now back.

It's good news for JP. Many people hold Jackson in high regard, so if JP has the edge then up goes JP in people's estimations (from very high to higher). And if MJ has the edge then he's held in high regard so JP's stock is not devalued.

Good news for MJ as if JP beats him then hey, JP is good and MJ needs to get his racing head eased back in.

For his sake I hope he is physically fit and is going to get some seat time in the car - rusty he will be.

Win win for both drivers and for the team as I think both drivers are level headed enough to work together to get the best out of the equipment.

Given the many years of Ford/ GM (Vauxhall in this case) showroom and race track rivalry I wonder how Jackson in a Vauxhall sits with thr family's Ford loyalties. Probably nobody gives a stuff these days...

I'm really curious how Jackson fares after two-year break. It seems forever since he's last raced! Nevertheless, I expected someone younger alongside Plato.

Wasn't an issue when he drove a BMW or a Chevrolet, doubt it will be an issue now.

There are ... but have you seen him in one (aside from a one off Britcar race with Stewart Lines)?? even the release on Power Maxed site states he hung his gloves up 2 years ago, a lot of top line drivers when they depart BTCC for whatever reason have gone elsewhere - be it GT's, Clios, TCR etc to keep themselves racing and ensure they have options, but Mat has done nothing. I honestly thought we had seen the last of him

A good driver doesnt just forget how to race. Will need to blow the cobwebs away but pretty sure he will still have what it takes to win

Or any different to any other driver who used to race for a team and now races for another. I don't see it being a problem.

Tbh dont see Jackson purposely tangling with anyone or either of the three (whoever 3rd driver might be) motorbase guys doing that either
