This is going to be a theme all race long..if you are not running near the front in GTE you will get caught out by the safety car.

Yep. Forget about fuel saving and tire saving. You need to stay with the leaders and pit with the leaders. Or you will get shafted.

Did I miss the safety crew checking him out? That was an awful hit straight on into unforgiving concrete that could’ve quite likely injured poor Marcel.

That's BoP. His car is better in corners, the Corvette is better on straights. If his car was better on everything then it wouldn't be BoP. And Ford have played the BoP numerous times and had it go their way.

Why couldn't they use a FCY?

The accident was well off the racing line.

It was called so quickly that I suspect a medical crew was dispatched, which is an immediate SC to create gaps in traffic should the ambulance have to move urgently. Also allows an SC to slow down to create an even larger gap if needs be.

We are down from top 11 to top 5 in GTE behind 1 safetycar.

The best way to do this would be to leave the safety car out and force the top 5 to pit.
