Why would Ferrari want Kimi back? He is not going to put in a WDC challenge.

I can't see that happen either.

If Ferrari needs a replacement for Vettel, then - assuming they can't lure Hamilton or Verstappen - I think the logical thing would be to offer a short-term contract to a solid midfielder as a stop-gap until
* Hamilton/Verstappen are out of contract
* 1 of their youngsters is ready and has enough license points (Schumacher / Shwartzman / Armstrong / ...)
Of course if that stop-gap driver impresses enough he may as well stay in 2021 while the youngster gets a first season at Sauber (or Haas)

I think many of the midfielders would jump at a chance to get even just a single season in a Ferrari.

Of course, I think that makes sense so it will probably not happen this way.

They’ve already got Leclerc as a contingency plan when Vettel goes. But if Vettel goes at the end of the season, that is going to through the driver market wide open

Why Hulk to Haas? Quite a few on here "rate" him.. why?
Who wants a mid team/non winner?
He has achieved nothing really in F1 and has maintained his position in mid teams.
Spice it up a bit.. chuck Max in with Lewis, Leclerc with Kimi and Vettel back in a Red Bull.
Make the "old boys" work for their seats.

He is within 1-2 tenths of Ricciardo, and is therefore the best driver HAAS can get. Certainly an improvement on Grosjean in the eyes of most.

Who else do you think HAAS should sign? It's slim pickings for them...

For the other car they could retain Magnussen. Or sign Kvyat or Gasly if they are released from Red Bull. Or Vandoorne. Or Werlhein. Or maybe Vergne or Beumi. Or Kubica if dropped from Williams. Ericsson? Palmer? They could sign de Vries from Formula 2. Strike out Kubica and Palmer probably, they are too slow.

Perez already confirmed an extension at Racing Point, while Ocon is signed to Renault, so they are not options for HAAS.

I guess HAAS could take the punt on promoting Schumacher from F2 instead of Alfa, but Schumacher can barely crack the top 10 in F2...

There are certainly no big name stars in the drivers available to HAAS!

Hulkenberg hardly makes mistakes or crashes with other cars, unlike the two they have at the moment, harsh as that sounds. So they could benefit from his experience there.

In my eyes, Hulkenberg could do better in a different car. Even Ricciardo struggles, but of course has more luck through not being nervous. He already has reputation of winning races and of course they signed him not that long ago...
Hulkenberg still suffers from his no-luck regarding podiums.

I don't see Raikkonen wanting to go back to Ferrari. I believe, he really races for fun, not for money or reputation. I don't think he likes the pressure of winning or scoring points like it was at Ferrari. Hes a real racer, thats all.

Hamiltons only point for changing teams would be, to have at least 1 title without Mercedes/Mercedes engine/etc. I think, its main target for his reputation.

And he may already know, that even his talent must not change the part of chaos in Ferrari team.

Red Bull will not a real alternative, in terms of money or winning attitude.

This season, my impression is that Ricciardo and Hulkenberg are well matched - and I rate Ricciardo highly.

Whilst at this stage of his career, I do not think that Ferrari or Mercedes will come calling, I do think that he warrants a place on the grid, be that in a Renault or Haas or one of the other mid-field teams. Certainly neither of the current Haas drivers have done themselves any favours, and neither could complain if they are replaced by Hulkenburg who is fast and does not crash into his teammate every other race.

Of course his height is said to have counted against him. Not sure he would have been world champion in a top car, but he is more than your average midfield driver

Bottas has been a good backup to Hamilton, no wonder he is staying. Ocon's best hope is if Hulk goes to Haas. The plot thickens

Shame the German GP has gone off the calendar, this season's event has been one of the best, even if it was helped by the rain. There are plenty of GPs I would rather they had got rid of

One of those is significantly more newsworthy than the other 😀.

Being a week later means the British GP doesn’t clash with Wimbledon or the Euro 2020 Final at Wembley.

Yeah, but... the latter means I'm going to Spa instead, assuming I keep on the BGT team next year (which might happen, or might not, I've got to get this season finished first!)

Slight aside though, but pertinent: a growing number of Brits go to marshal the SRO Speedweek at Spa. That removes them - experience and all - from the pool available for the GP. Given that there was some discomfort and not a little disquiet in 2019 at the removal of using the blue flag for all single seater races (they're automated via the light panels/GPS telemetry system), it could leave us with an interesting problem for 2020 and subsequent years.

Still, what happened to the agreement not to clash with Le Mans?

The rumours still suggest Hulk at Haas in place of Grosjean.

I personally wonder about why Hulkenburg is rated so highly, but maybe his opportunities to shine have been limited (or not, I really don' follow his career)

But regarding Grosjean, I tend to like him, but at times he is his own worst enemy and I think some type of change to the dynamics of the driving pair at Haas is likely needed. Hulkenburg there might be a good thing.

Having been over to Zandvoort for the Dutch Alfa Club's Spettacolo Sportivo last weekend, how on earth are they proposing to run a GP there next year? There's very little run-off, a pretty limited paddock area, and only one grandstand for starters........
