Very open, incisive and emotional interview and as he says, will change his life and outlook on life forever. It left me feeling I don't want to see him on a racing car again, I don't want to see him in Indy car. Ted Kravitz put it best, he should go home to his wife and 3 boys and be done with racing. Unless he doesn’t want to.
I’m sorry, I have no time for people who want to tell others how to live their life. Racing defines the man. If he still wants it to be part of his life then he should keep doing it. |

Exactly. I have no desire to go rock climbing or skydiving or bungee jumping, way too dangerous for me. However if other people want to do it, that’s their choice

Plently of dangerous things i dont think people should do.
For me, its perfectly acceptable to discuss a drivers best before buy/sell date. RG is a really nice guy and im so very happy he is ok but its not like calls for retirement is coming out of nowhere is it? |

That’s not what the point was. It did not concern whether he should leave F1 because no one wants to employ him.

Who are these clowns on Radio 5 ? Jenny Gow “ Andreas Seidel sort of McLaren team boss this weekend”. - you mean like any weekend? The “commentators had no idea who had used what tyre, didn’t know who was out of their cars, couldn’t read Mercedes strategy , didn’t spot Q3 first run used tyres. WHAT A COMPLETE JOKE. BBC ? Hospital radio more like. Are they there on site? What on earth do they do all day regarding prep? Shocking waste of licence payer money

You're probably also better off posting in the current race thread rather than last week's |

There's no specific thread for Grosjean, so... Relevant to this one despite being a week old:
Reports from Mark Hughes and others at the circuit that Romain Grosjean has gone home and will not race in Abu Dhabi. |

Interesting comments in the article regarding Grosjean's desire that his accident not be his last experience in F1 and that Wolff said if no other team stepped up, he would, find a way to make it (testing day) happen.

Good offer from Merc. Do the F1 regulations allow for such human decency?

Yes. There will be tests he can run at, or alternatively they can do a two year old car anywhere anytime.

Shame RoGro won’t be able to finish his F1 career how he wants, but at least he should have a Merc test to look forward to

I think Romain is a bunch better than the Haas has allowed him to show; Magnussen too; a Merc test would be interesting, hopefully it is in a test with somebody they can benchmark him against.
A career sacrificed to too much loyalty and a really awful car? |

Grosjean is a wasted talent, however I feel that was down to him not making the most of his talent at times. He has either underperformed or got involved in incidents too often. He has shown his talent plenty of times, but not enough times in the past few seasons unfortunately

He’s one of those drivers who had talent, but failed to use it often enough in my view

He seemed to be going great guns 2013-15. Really mature, maximising his results. Not endangering the life of everyone else on track. The future looked, at worst, reasonable.
Then came the move to Haas to try and get into Ferrari through the backdoor. It didn't seem that good an idea at the time and hasn't proven to be five years on, the dream of receiving the Maranello call and hitting the F1 big time just too unrealistic. There were attempts to stay relevant: a flamboyant donut and burnout in the middle of the pack in Spain 2018 set pulses racing. And who could ever forget his brilliant portrayal of 'cowed underling' in Netflix's brilliant fictional series Drive to Survive, audiences left spellbound at his portrayal of emotional struggle at the hands of perma-angry, abusive boss Guenther. But he was even upstaged in that as Haas found a barely credible business magnate for season 2 (this is where the show jumped the shark for me). The whole Haas/Grosjean thing peaked in the first race really, Australia 2016. Since then he was probably looking back at the days when Mark Webber wanted to batter him in the paddock with rosy nostalgia. |

He looked really good in the Haas in 2016, but since Magnussen came in, he seems to have struggled more and all that initial promise with the team seems to have disappeared.

Grosjean always seemed like a genuinely nice guy, too inconsistent to be considered by the front running teams but on a good day he was genuinely quick. His exit from F1 in a huge ball of fire seems strangely fitting - it's a very 'Grosjean' way to finish.
What next for the "1st lap nutcase"? |

Still a long way to go in his career right now. But it gives us something to look forward to come next year with him in the Haas
