The GT300' Ford GT
Whereas several teams are currently working making their respective projects come true both in Europe and USA, last year a Ford GT was prepared according to the rules of the GT300 class of the japanese Super GT championship. The car made progress race after racer and could have won one or two times.
The TOM's team developped the car and the Teramoto Technical Office maintained it. Starting from a road going machine, the TOM's staff hardly modified the car and even replaced the 5.4 liter V8 power unit with a 3.5 liter Zetec-R Ford V8. I'm looking for technical information about that car. How were the chassis, body, engine environment, suspension, transmission, brake system, exhaut system, cooling system, and other parts modified? I unsuccessfully tried to contact both the TOM's and the DHG Racing team and even the Super GT website. Perhaps some of you may help me by providing those information or the name of someone to contact... |

I was actually surprised by the progress the car made. Throughout the season it developed into a competetive car and challenged for wins. Definitely one to look out for next season!

I took a few tech pics of it when I was at Fuji last year - didn't have time to speak to the team much though. you might pick something up about its build.

I'll post a bit more on here - then you'll have to wait a while until the RE website is revamped - it will have galleries from Super GT, F1, WRC, ACO, FIA GT, LMP3 loads basically

Thanks Sam. Not surprised to see a few aerodynamic appendages there!
Do you know what valve spring spec they have in the Zetec-R? |

Then, would be true to tell that the Super GT Ford GT is deeply modified?
Sam, from what you saw at Fuji, what is specific to the TOM's developed Ford GT? What's different with the road going machine? Did you see if the Zetec-R V8 required some modifications in the engine bay? What else??? |

no specific tech info on the Ford GT - the team members who were there did not speak enough english.
As there are few Ford GT's racing anywhere this is the first proper look at one I've had. I've had the opportunity to cast my eye over the road ones briefly at Roush in Essex but not a proper tech inspection. However I'd say that in my opinion (and don't forget I'm paid to look inside racing cars) its a serious lump of racing car - perhaps on a level with the Corvette C6R (ie really quite different to the road car) but more sophisticated. |

The road going version needs a transmission cooler and bigger oil cooler for any seriosus driving. Both started to over heat with only minimal spirited driving. I disagree the Ford GT is not even close to a C6R, more like a C6Z06 except with more HP and TQ and no TQ managment or Active Handleing, plus far better brakes then the stock Corvette. Even with minimal thottle input it was very easy to spin the rear wheels shifting from 2-3 and 3-4. I have a friend who has both a C6Z06 and a Ford GT. He is putting in the larger oil cooler and a transmission cooler so he can take the car to track days. |

Although there is no racing going on right now I`ll be back here for 4 weeks in the summer so hopefully I`ll get to see this car ripping up the track The Spec`s of it sound amazing. |

With the clamshells off the Ford reminds me of the Ascari.
Part of the fun of Super GT is trying to figure out what road car it came from Archibold |

I'm still trying to figure out how the Shiden is legal in SuperGT, since it doesn't appear to be derived from a production car.
