Cheever and Menard buy TWR engine department!

IRL team bosses Eddie Cheever and John Menard have confirmed the purchase of TWR Engines in Kidlington, UK. The engine design arm of Tom Walkinshaw Racing will now be known as MCT, UK and will continue to provide services to its customers from the Oxfordshire base in tandem with the MCT facility in Indianapolis. Cheever Technologies ran a TWR Infiniti engine in the IRL series last year(f1-live)

What does this mean for the Infiniti engine? Will it be back?

Or does this suggest that John and Eddie are lookign away from running their current race teams, instead going into supply? Or will it be similar to the way Penske have built their own cars in the past? Anyone got any information/speculation? Clearly this affects many championships other than IRL.

Does the IRL have the same rules regarding engines as they do chassis'? Would the psuedo infiniti be legal? Does anyone think the infinti has the power to compete against the Toyotas and Hondas? Interesting...

MCT were already building engines anyway this year, all they are probably eggting from buying TWR Engines is some more equipment to help with development, it won't affect their race teams. Apparently they are looking into other TWR enterprises as well (maybe MCT will end up buying Holden Special Vehicles )

The Infiniti name will only be back if Nissan decide to badge engines again

And it is this business and the workload it has generated that appears to have killed Eddie Cheever's particpation in the Indy 500

HSV isnt for sale. Its already been sold to Holden.
