As long as the printed bricks are in good nick you'll be in the money there! A dab of Oxiclean or similar would make sure they're good as new. Or you could do what I do and chuck them in [a cushion bag in] the washing machine...

Still not sure whether really worth all the hassle of checking every brick is still there, washing and packaging plus postage expenses, but at least there would be an excuse to play with them.

Lego sets are made for building the model on the box, then having all the pieces disappear into the larger Lego inventory!

I won third place one year, with a logging truck. My photo showed it carrying Lincoln Logs. My dad said 'You can't do that, it shows another company's toy!' I sent the photo in that way anyway. Now, I think the Lincoln Logs may be a big reason the judges picked it. It showed the Legos were being played with. The competitor's building toy was just being used as a prop for the Legos.

My prize, big surprise, was a Lego set. A cement plant or something along those lines. It got built once and then the pieces were added to the inventory.

My last Lego model, in high school, was a Porsche 917/30. Two motors and a sort of marionette setup I used on car models to allow me to steer it from a standing position with the motors driving it across the floor.

When I got into architecture school, some of us shared with our closest friends the shameful secret that we played with Legos in high school, and we gradually learned that was so widespread among architecture students that the weirdos were the ones who didn't!

Now I know why I became a control freak and a person who keeps things in order. But most of the bigger sets, I might have built them again and built something else of them, but I never mixed the parts with other sets which of course restricted what could be built. :|

They'll never make it past the "gathering votes" stage, but perhaps that isn't the point. These are the best Model Team-style (i.e. System) sportscars I've seen.

Looks like someone at the ACO has taken notice of Greg998's Sauber C9 recreation.

Seeing as Le Mans is approaching fast, Techlug (French AFOL forum) are holding a competition to redesign the 42039 set. See if you can spot which manufacturer is most influential

And this entry which apparently not in the competition yet, but is definitely my favourite. Take a look at the detail in the monocoque and rear end:

Hi People of Tentenths forum. I'm Greg998
Apparently, you know my Sauber C9 and my first 917 but do you know my Jaguar XJR-9 and my new 917K (1971 Le Mans winner)?

Hey Greg, it's good to see you here after following your progress on Eurobricks and Lego Ideas.

The 917K looks absolutely fantastic, and it already has my vote. I don't think Lego would consider such a large licensed set, but they do have a deal with Porsche (for the Speed Champions line) so you never know.

Thanks for your welcome

Indeed, Lego owns the Porsche license. It's an obstacle less to overcome.
The size of these car is pretty big, perhaps too much for lego sets but...who knows, if 10000 votes are reached and Mr Porsche, Mr Mercedes or Mr Jaguar REALLY like it....
Right now, these cars are made of 1700 to 2000 parts. I might consider lower scale versions in a near future (right now, i'm on a new big scale car i will not put on Lego Ideas but that will be displayed on Mocpages, Flick'r, Eurobricks). The main issue with scale lowering will be loss of functions as pistons/crankshaft engine, suspensions...but steering should be still there.

I sincerely thank all the people who voted for my cars, all the people who have created an account on lego ideas in the aim to vote for my work.

The checkered flag seems to be far away but they are endurance cars...the race has only beginning.

Brilliant as usual, and doubly so because it's for a version of the 936 that gets far too little recognition.

Thank you all
Don't know what will be the next car but certainly it will be another Porsche. Perhaps a longtail 917 1969 or 1970, a 956 or...something more "exotic" as the 917PA 16 cylinders or the 909 Bergspyder.
