Very nice shots Jeff!

Why do the Americans always get to see all the good stuff?

It's not fair...

This is the official website of the historic F1 movement in the USA. Be amazed at the quantity/quality of marvellous old F1 cars that they have over there. If only there could be a Thoroughbred F1 'festival'- for us in the UK at Brands, with a 're-match' at the Glen or Long Beach. Get the European TGP and USA cars together?

It's not like American vintage racers really get out there and race... Maybe 1 or 2 in every field, but mostly it's just a glorified track day.

Especially on a street course, you really can't take a chance!

It's not really much of a race when a '76 McLaren can beat an '82 March and an '82 Tyrrel. Those ground effects cars should have demolished the rest of the field in the hands of capable drivers.

Hey, Lee, I was at Long Beach. I wouldn't say that thing about "glorified track day" to any of those drivers. I have never seen a track day where they went three wide into the fountain turn before.

The biggest limitation on the actual racing seemed to be mechanical -- the Villeneuve Ferrari kept losing its brakes, the Riszla Theodore (ex-Tambay) had fuel pump problems, etc. But there was wheel to wheel contact, and one car nerfed another into the turn one runoff.

The nicest part of the whole thing was that the drivers really seemed to appreciate the marshalls. Every single one of them waved on the cool-down. Try that in real F1 and see how far you get.

Hmm... Perhaps it's changed since the last time I looked?
