Can we please have sprint tyres at every round???

Seriously, at least there was a bit of variety at QR......certaily a lot more exciting than running on the control rubber.

Thoughts anyone?

Yep absolutely.. Was good to see some differences in tyre performance at different stages of the races.. some taking a conservative approach from the start thus allowing them to come home strongly towards the finish, and others running the opposite strategy... A little less "follow the leader" than most rounds and the drivers seemed to like it, I just hope VESA takes note..

Possibly not the best option for endurance races tho IMO...

absolutely bring it on, apart from the enduros as noted.

question though, is there a wet/grooved soft option? what would have happened at QR if the rains came, or more likely, at Winton when the rains do come? do they have to use the control wet? and what's the performance like between the 2 laptime wise?

I think the track helped a fair bit as well.

There was more passing in the first 10 laps than a weekend at Hamilton.

Dump the control tyre althogether.

Open up the supply to any interested party. The only proviso is that the tyre company must be able to supply the entire field - no special deals.

what about a sprint 120 k's no tyre change. He who burns rubber will fall back at the pointy end. Saturdays Race

followed by 220 km run with fuel and tyres, may best strategy win. Sundays Race.

Spint and race, would mix it up a bit.

You would hope that at V8 Supercars HQ they noticed the amount of passing going on and how much more interesting the racing was - and that they quickly modify things for the rest of the year

They dont need to play with special rules or anything, just keep the fuel tanks small and the sprint tyres on for anything non-enduro.

Best weekend of racing this year - make the sprint tyre 100% every sprint meet

why not have them available for the enduros? if you are falling behind, throw on some sprint tires to catch up (provided the pit stops don't slow you down too much).

The races at Queensland Raceway were not the most exciting races we have had this year and we had one car at the head of the field win by convincing margin.

Sure, there was a bit of passing, but mostly when someone had used up all of their tyre life and they were a sitting duck. Is that great racing?

How was that a ringing endorsement for the softer tyre?

peckstar has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
race 2 at clipsal was heaps better.

QLD was good, because it threw up some variables, but the drivers will work that out quickly

I know that some drivers keep banging on about needing more grip to be able to pass, but the evidence simply does not support that.

Who can remember a wet race that was dull, and with no passing? I bet pretty much nobody. Much grip in a wet race? No!

Most would not have to think back very far to think of a dull dry race where grip, relative to a wet race, was in plentiful supply.

It's the same Formula One.

I don't know what 'slip angle' the wet compound tyres have compared with slicks, but maybe slip angle could be the issue, not the overall level of grip?
