An E46 GTR came to life on February 2001, powered by the P60B40 a 3,997 cc V8 producing 493 hp (368 kW; 500 PS). Unlike the straight-six powered M3 versions, which were outpaced by the Porsche 996 GT3, the racing version of the E46 M3 GTR 16 was very successful in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS), entered by Schnitzer Motorsport.
Rivals such as Porsche pointed out that this car was more of a prototype as no V8 engine was available in the road-going BMW E46, which is in violation of the spirit of Gran Turismo. In 2001, ALMS regulations stated that cars must be for sale on two continents within twelve months of the rules being issued. To fulfill this rule, BMW put 10 road going GTRs on sale after the 2001 season, for 250,000 euros (then $218,000) each. sorry it wasnt a m5 engine but a special race engine built for the gtr (witch at the time was iligal) |

Actually at the time it wasn't illegal. Back then the ACO had no minimum production requirements for production cars, making it an ideal situation for a homogation special.

A Carrera S has a MSRP of $91,900. A basic Turbo has a MSRP of $137,500 and the Turbo S has a MSRP of $160,700. The only GT3 currently sold by Porsche is the GT3RS 4.0 and that has a MSRP of $185,000. All these prices quoted are US prices, and do not include any extras. |

challinge is the ferraris one make cup, it is a race car, not a track car.
the 360 had a more track oriented version the Challange Stradale, and the 430 had the Scuderia version, both also had challinge race cars. it is like porsche Cup cars and their RS versions. the 458 track oriented version will come in 2013 but it will probalby be show next year. ferrari 458 development cycle. spyder in 2012/shown in 2011 track version in 2013/shown in 2012 458M the 458 replacement in 2014/ probably shown in 2013 |
