Willem Toet (and other hillclimbers, 2006)

With Willem's new appointment at BMW Sauber F1 based at Hinwil in Switzerland does this mean we will not be seeing Willem on the Hills in the UK in 2006?

All I can say is that when Willem was working for Ferrari (in Italy setting-up their wind-tunnel) he used to commute for the hillclimbs. Many's the time that he has arrived after first practice and left (sometimes even without the shirt or trousers that he arrived in [sorry, in-joke there] ) before the final run-offs, just to be able to catch his flight back.

Having spoken to Willem this week, I fully expect to see him on the hills this year but with, how shall I put it.....?, a slightly different power plant than last year.
Some others on here will possibly have more details but....... it sounds interesting.

It may just mean that he arrives at his accident faster! Good to hear not only that he is in a job again but that we will still enjoy his stirring performances on the hills. Wonder how he would like a run at Curborough for a change?

Regards

Better still how about a punt at the British Sprint Championship!

I reckon he would be a shoe in for the title!

At Doune in September Willem was upstaged by David Grace who joined the Toet Team in the role of Court Jester. It did however give him more time to chat to people and try to convert everyone to healthy eating!

Righto where's that bacon butty!

Well there was that to! David Grace was wizzing round on Sunday morning with cups of tea and full English Breakfasts! It certainly impressed Bill C who commented "He'll make someone a lovely wife!" Meanwhile Willem was on the ceral bars!

Fortunately the catering extended to the lower ranks of the Force team as well, Team talks from DG also enabled me to set a PB @Doune last sept.

I note that this is now official. Autosport is quoting Neil Peters describing it as a '99 XDV8 Champ Car engine in twin-turbo form, developing around 700bhp. It also says Willem will 'attempt' to fit in a full campaign. I hope he manages.

Don't believe all you read in Autosprout! Mind yo anything between 600 and 800 bhp is " around 700".

Surely anything between 550 and 650 bhp is "around 700" and anything between 650 and 750 is "around 800"

Remember, that's only what Neil would admit to. So that's 700bhp+VAT, plus allowances for dyno error being rounded down, add a tweak of the in-cockpit boost button, should give an actual output of around 1100...

Is that the low boost mode with socks in the intake? Is his onboard camera turbo rated? Who's his aero man? So many questions....
Isn't boost adjustable, so maybe on some hills you would have low boost, and then there are the so called Power Hills....
Awwwwgggg.....

150 mph into bottom ess and i sure that Willem will have something twitching as well

IIRC the indy cars that the engine came out of raced with approx 800 bhp with the boost still in single figures, coupled with a 14000 rpm rev limit it should be good to listen too as well
