Sorry to disappoint you, Gerard, but they already do. Well, certainly in the UK and Spain they do.

To be fair Gerard, the biggest fear we in the UK have of the police accessing our bank account is that Plod would manage to delete it.

A friend of mine has 5 truckloads of export goods locked into the queue in Kent and and sits there and watches his Brexit buffer stock dwindle away.....

Shipping his stuff containerised via Hull doesnt seem to work either...

He is awfully worried as this is costing him serious money

My business cut supplies from and sales UK at the end 2019

he has 5 trucks in there, not one
they dont move forward and cant get out either
he cant pull them out of the jam, so the loaded goods are blocked

he cant even airfreight any of the blocked goods,
because he cant get at them
he has have a replacement shipment produced, which takes two weeks

he going bananas, slowly but surely
because he can see when production has to be stopped

Out of interest, RudE, just what are the products that our super efficient, oven ready, blue skies, the world will be a better place and all things will be wonderful, FREE country now that we are released from the yoke of Brussels, are being denied because these trucks are stuck in a field?

Oh, in case you were wondering, I definitely voted to remain, and although I fully accept that we lost the vote and we have to accept the verdict, I still don't believe that it can possibly benefit the UK in the short to medium term. Only history will tell us whether it will have been a success.

The stuck shipment is going from UK to Europe
so its Europe beeing denied of it
not the UK, they are beeing denied the payment, because of non delivery
and its some kind of specialised packing material,
not rocket science, just somebody so far made a good job of producing it
cant say more

I would expect parts of the Lidl and Aldy supply chain to dry up for a while
I fact I know...

It may be my imagination but the local airport seems to be somewhat busier these days. Both short haul and long haul.

All freight I suspect. Or at least it is whenever I check what seems to be active.

Definitely, Grant, and often two 747s a day whereas it used to be about two a week.

Avoiding the ports bottleneck? Plus there's a massive container ship problem, I believe they're all in the wrong places thanks to Coronavirus. Shipping is very expensive at the moment and also very haphazard.

All in all a perfect storm.

Good point Andy.

A 747 flew out (keeping rather low I thought, probably avoiding the incoming cloud) late morning or early afternoon and later, whilst on a quick run to Ashby, I noticed there was another parked up at the DHL hub.

Several smaller freighter doing hops to and from places like Dublin, Belfast, Glasgow via EMA before heading on to mostly off-shore European destinations. Leipzig seems popular.

DHL being a German owned company it's interesting that the branded flights are most often operated by third party operators using non-branded aircraft.

The economics of aviation must be extremely interesting at the moment.

Presumably even a possible increase in freight would still not make buying and converting older passenger airframes a long term economically sound proposition to drive large expansion of capacity.

I think you are right about the economics but the freight world is doing well, as is the aircraft breaking for spares business. Lots of aircraft to break and lots of freight companies looking for spares.

747s are largely out of service in passenger flying now so expect to see more of them in freight use.

Some passenger planes are even carrying freight in the passenger seats.

It’s the first month of Brexit.
All the remainers on here getting excited
See what happens in next twelve months.
It was a vote,it happed.
Presumably by the same logic these people agree with Trumps attack on a democratic election in States!
If it doesn’t work we can take on any of the three other party leaders in four years who are/were arch remainers

Bloomin heck John, will you stop making me agree with you?

Part of me thinks that a lot of the problems are a result of institutional remain junkies creating the issues as an "I told you so". We saw it in the last four years.

From what I can tell (happy to be corrected) the major issues are the UK side of the borders not the other way around, apart from the grandstanding covid thing just before Christmas. Frankly "third countries" have been exporting to the EU for many years and we don't see lines of trucks at their borders do we?

My only involvement in moving cars will be the three cars I have at LMC and two to Spa 6 hour meeting
Not holding my breath for LMC as Peter Auto seem to have gone in shutdown about it but let’s hope 6 hr is held.Understand ACO are still trying to sort out what’s happening as it’s them rather than PA.
You wouldn’t want to hold LMC without the club cars and 100k people
I am completely ambivalent about brexit as life will continue with or without it snd for next five years will probably better for us to let the Germans and Benelux countries bail out the rest as we have enough problems on our little island. It will lead to the break up of Union and I can’t get to worked up about that as can’t see me being bothered about getting a carnet for the Ingleston replacement circuit!

My company used to suppy UK with nuts and Muesli, in a good year 3.000 tons or more, after 2016 I stopped putting any effort into this
At the time of Brexit we had a very big tender from the UK, for strategic cooperation that my salespeople and the prospective client were very excited about, pre Brexit it would have been a perfect fit, about 5.000 tons of business, so very very interesting. I could see this going nowhere, so I after the Brexit vote, just went through the motions and let the process fizzle out

My cars are in the main race at Spa ( Pre war sports) but my major sidekick has two in six hours and they ,along with the Pre War cars ,are all held over from
Last year. We let them keep the money.
Same thing applies to LMC . We have seven entries held over from last year.

As has been said, Covid related shipping issues are at least partly to blame for any freight disruption - whether because of restrictions on movement without testing etc, or apparently a de facto shortage of shipping containers - probably more accurately described as huge piles of empty containers stuck in the wrong places, again partly because of Covid issues, and partly (in this country) because of pre-Brexit stockpiling.

I'm sure many remainers will keenly pin the blame for any disruption on Brexit, of course. Inevitably the last-minute agreement of trade issues has contributed to disruption as it was impossible for the shipping industry properly to prepare, but the EU negotiators have as much a responsibility for that as UK. It was always perfectly possible for a pragmatic business-focussed attitude to have reached something similar to or better than the agreement we have, much earlier than occurred, but for presumably various domestic political reasons immense amounts of time and effort were wasted on pointless grandstanding. One of the reasons why I was opposed to the continued growth of the EU with supposedly centralised decision-making, which in reality is partially hamstrung by the need to reconcile almost 30 different agendas.......
