Should v8 supercars go overseas?
i think so it is fantastic seeing those holden and ford racing on world class circuits.but they should be kept to about 4 because we need to stay true to the name v8 supercars AUSTRALIA and plus us ozzies who follow the series can get out to our local round and see them race.

Me too. Let it happen. Keep it controlled. Watch it flourish!

Overseas? Yes. Part of the Australian Championship? No. (Apart from NZ)

VESA's idea of V8's overseas is totally different to my idea....
I'd have rounds at Spa, Laguna Seca, Silverstone and the traditional NZ round. Not Bahrain, China, Dubai. Sepang wouldnt be too bad, but its still an area with far less knowledge of the category than Europe or the US |

I'd rather see them try Bathurst for 24hrs first But the pair of them would go nicely as 24hr events, although that WOULD have to be stand alone events.

Run more meetings in Australia, stuff the overseas races.
As it is we get less local touring car races now than ever before. |

So i suppose having 9 rounds in the 80's doesnt count, or 8 in 1991?

I said races for Touring Cars, not ATCC races specifically,
Take 1986; - 10 ATCC rounds - 6 Endurance Championship rounds - 3 standalone AMSCAR rounds (the other two doubled as ATCC and AEC rounds) - Adelaide GP Support race = 20 meetings for touring cars (of course, you were not obliged to attend all) Take you example of 1991; - 9 ATCC rounds - 3 standalone AMSCAR rounds (other round doubled as ATCC race) - Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 - Adelaide GP support race meeting = 15 meetings for tourings Or take 1996, the year before Cochrane; - 10 ATCC rounds - Sandown 500 and Bathurst 1000 - Melbourne GP and Gold Coast Indy support races = 14 race meetings for touring cars Now lets look at 2006; - 11 race meetings in Australia counting for the championship (of course, Sandown and Bathurst are now included in the championship) - Melbourne GP support races = 12 race meetings for touring cars in Australia. |

Also the numbers and quality of those "Touring Cars" also varied.

It is important to remember that criteria for OS events hasnt anything to do with "great tracks" or "motorsport markets" but has to do with $$$ and how much.
They'd run in my backyard if I had enough money. |

Logically they have to run where the money is. So if you want them to run at Spa ,FPV GTHO, get someone from overseas to fund it.

The point is there isnt any funding in that section of the world because there isnt enough interest. Same for China.

Dont be worried about the Government not funding, no one would fund a v8 race in Europe

My two cents...
I'd much rather see the V8's race around Symmons Plains, Winton and Eastern Creek then Shanghai, Bahrain, or any other overseas place for that matter. Bring on overseas rounds, but don't sacrifice our rounds for it. |

Racer 69, you have an interesting way of avoiding the question. You are are still comparing Apples with Oranges: There is No AMSCAR; Amaroo Park, ATCC etc. So why compare something completely different? There are a lot more "Touring Car " catergories than there was in 1986.
