I am reasonably optimistic that a non Corvette or Porsche can take GT for this one! Also what is the proper question: a) Can Mazda win its first race? or b) Can they lap the entire prototype field.

I've already seen few people cringe over the "Mazda" pole, you know bop giving them the pace at "Mazda Raceway". And even though in this particular case the criticism appears to be without larger merit, it does show you that if you create a full on BoP politics environment, people aren't gonna believe even when you end up having honest or semi-honest performances. What goes around comes around.

Is it all BoP or is there some merit to Laguna Seca being entirely different from the three other circuits they've raced on? Similar to all other non spec classes this weekend.

It's obviously not only bop, the laguna seca track is the most suited to a p2 chassis of all the tracks IMSA visits. You could see this in years past already when the mazda's in diesel form were much closer than at other tracks.
But there is obviously also a bop element involved, at sebring the mazda's were a little off the pace but at long beach (a dp preferred track) they seemed to be strong already due to the bop. |

As far as I know, the Mazdas received no extra BoP breaks for this race.
Laguna Seca has always favored P2s (see history,) The Mazdas have fast drivers and a decent car and finally a real engine, and they were competing against MSR, which has a habit of getting everything wrong .... and MSR wanted to start the race with John Pew behind the wheel to finish strong with Oz Negri, so Pew had to qualify. |

The stream is not working to me, It says that is not available in my area and today I'm in Spain. Yesterday it was also impossible to make it work for the CTSC.

Who's driving the medical car and why are they stupid enough to think that stopping in the middle of the Corkscrew is a good idea?

Drama! I was just about to complain that this felt like watching a car commercial and not a race. Nice try by Taylor.
