Team-mate battles in 2003
Team mate Battles - Who will come out in front?
They say the first driver you have to beat is your team-mate, so 2003 will be a deciding year for a few. Careers will be made or broken for a many in the class of 2003. Some of these are easy, so are harder. Some will make us look silly at the end of the year when I drag the topic back up. So cards on the table, who will win in each team battle? Ferrari : Michael (by a country mile - again) Williams : Montoya (although still close) McLaren : Kimi (Davids last year at McLaren) Renault : Trulli Sauber : Frentzen (but this is very close and could go either way) Jordan : Fisi (will cream whoever gets the seat) BAR : Button (BAR want JV gone) Jaguar : Webber (with ease because he will finish more often) Toyota : Panis (a tough year for DeMatta) Minardi : Wilson (PS new golden boy - however if Jos has the seat I may change my mind) |

I agree with almost all of those Wrex , except renault, I think Alonso will finally show everyone what ive been thinking for several years , Jarno trulli simply isnt as good as his hyped up to be, but I would love to see Jarno prove me wrong, but I doubt it , i dont think ive ever seen him do any good in any race ?????
also if verstappen gets the Minardi drive I think it would be close between Wilson and Jos, Jos has the experience but I think Wilson has sheer speed and talent on his side (not saying Jos doesnt but i think Wilson may have the edge) but i think the rest you pretty much have spot on |

Ferrari - Schumacher (No surprises there)
Williams - Montoya (Same as above) McLaren - Raikkonen (Will mature and beat DC. Close though) Renault - Alonso (Trulli is very fast, but he needs to prove it) Sauber - Heidfeld (Make no mistake, he'll rise to the occasion) Jordan - Fisichella (I don't think anyone will beat him) BAR - Villeneuve (With a fast teammate, JV will rise) Jaguar - Webber (What a surprise I said that ) Toyota - Panis (Experience will make the difference) Minardi - Wilson (Assuming Mr$$$ is in the other seat) |

Ferrari. Schumi. even Yoong would do it with such a treatment.
Williams. Juan. Should I mention why McLaren. DC. Renault. Both turkeys should be even. Sauber. HHF. I coudl beat Heidfeld. Jordan. Are they racing next years? BAR. JV Jaguar. ****onia. Toyota. Both bunnies should be a match for each other. Minardi. Wilson has already paid for it |

Williams: JPM
McLaren: KR Renault: JT Sauber: Too close to call. If the environment is right HHF could show his old form and kick some ass. Jordan: Probably Fisi, but if Irvine or Jos get the seat all bets are off. BAR: JV - Despite the conspriacy theorys, there's no way JB can take him. Toyota: Tough call - Depends on CDM's learning curve. If he picks up fast he could be beyond Panis in a few races. Minardi: No clue. |

Ferrari: You know who! (Contracted to do so).
Williams: JPM - Ralf drops off from Mid-Season onwards. Mclaren: DC (Based on Experience - will be close though). Renault: Alonso - Martin Brundle sums trulli up perfectly about being overrated, especially on the fact the he goes to sleep on Sunday afternoons! Sauber: too close to call, could come down to luck as to how finishes the most races(in the points)-see Raikkonen last year. Jordan: Fisichella BAR: Button (JV out) Minardi: Wilson Toyota: Panis (again on experience). Jaguar: Webber |

Ferrari : Michael (by a lotless than country mile, you Heretic!)
Williams : Montoya (though close) McLaren : DC (Kimi is still learning, quick, but where are the points???) Renault : Trulli Sauber : Heidfeld (but this is very close and could go either way, as Wrexy says) Jordan : Fisi (will cream whoever gets the seat) BAR : JV (he's cantankerous enough to do just enough to beat the "Little Fella") Jaguar : Webber (with ease because he will finish more often) Toyota : Panis (a tough year for DeMatta) Minardi : Wilson (PS new golden boy - however if Jos has the seat I won'tchange my mind) Last edited by EERO; 6 Jan 2003 at 18:21. |

Ferrari: Michael, by much the same margin as before
Williams: Montoya, he seems to be improvig more than Ralf McLaren: Kimi this time, DC's had his day Renault: If Trulli keeps up his late 2002 form, it'll be easy for him Sauber: Frentzen, but close, and Nick will be quicker at times Jordan: Fisichella, unless they can persuade Prost to drive for them BAR: Depends which driver the team want to be ahead. On talent you'd say JV, but.... Jaguar: Ought to be Webber, if he's as good as people say. I don't think he is, but still good enough to beat the Pizzaman Toyota: Panis, but Da Matta by lateseason if Toyota keep faith in him Minardi: Wilson could beat Jos, Pedro, Enrique or any of the other likely additions. |

I thought Ralf did drop off this year, whereas he didn't in '00 and '01. Unfortunately I still can't reach Forix... Looking at the 10-tenths help file I'ld say: First 8 races - Last 8 races: 2002: 27 - 12 2001: 22 - 24 2000: 12 - 12 |

I'm looking at it compared to team-mate. No surprise on the points this year, he won a race at the beginning before the F2002 hit the track.
At the end of '00, Jenson was outqualifying and outracing Ralf with some consistency. Quite similar at the end of last year. This year, Ralf was still battling with JPM at Suzuka. |

As for Ralf, he has dropped off in the past. He really needs to keep it together for the whole season. |

Ralf's 27 points in the first half of 2002 were in line with his performances in 2001 (22 and 24). This year, Montoya's performance was quite stable: 27-23. In 2001, it was 6-19 (or 6-25 if we were to take take 9 races per half season). In 2000, Button did 3-9 (against Ralf 12-12). So I would say Button (2000) and Montoya (2001) had a weak first half season (as if they were rookies --- which they were), followed by a half season almost on par with Ralf. This year, Ralf and Montoya were perfectly on par during the first half of the season. Second half, Montoya stayed on the same level (dropping just slightly in points), whereas Ralf's score was more than halfed. |
