I would imagine GM will want to something useful with the FIVE competitive GT-1 Corvettes they apparently have sitting around the Pratt and Miller shop.

Split the crew down the middle and run two cars each unless competition shows up, lol.

Pratt & Miller also run the Caddies CTS-V in Speed World Challange GT, and the Pontiac GXPr in Grand AM GT.

Joanne Krell, Cadillac director of public relations, said, "Cadillac is out of racing for the time being as it focuses on its core business."

So now they have a bunch of Caddies sitting around collecting dust, also.

Hmmm Maybe I should buy a slightly used P&M caddy for racing in NASA Super Unlimited??

Hmm. with two ex-Cadillac teams just twisting in the wind, maybe the Ollies go to the Continent w/ major crew support from the current Vette teams and the two Cadillac teams move into the Corvette positions with Pilgrim and Aschenbach as drivers in the #4. (?)

That is probably a strong possibility for 2008, but once the new CTS-V comes out the Cadillac boys will go back to Speed GT for 2009.

Who says that Cadillac is going back to SWC if at all? If they do re-enter racing maybe it will be in the ALMS as a then GT-2 car and Corvette Racing/P&M in an LMP-1 in 09 and the Riley chassis as a GT-1? Unless the rumors of the Mfg's purported bid with the FIA and possibly ACO (?) to unify GT in one class is true and wins out!

Cadillac had mentioned the possibility of coming back to Speed GT in the future with a new car. However nothing is certian.

From Autoblog.com
Quote:
After the race, Cadillac announced that this would be the brand's last season in the series, at least for a while. "With the second-generation CTS-V still a year away from its introduction, we'll close this chapter of Cadillac in racing and explore future opportunities to showcase the performance of the Cadillac portfolio," he said. They referred to the current car as the "first generation", so we can only hope that this means that a second generation will follow.

P&M is the racing "contractor" for Corvette/General Motors. In that role, of course they support privateer teams wherever they are.

That includes drivers when requested. They've said and done as much, and expect an increase in such "loans" in 2008, especially if they once again lack competition in the ALMS.

As far as getting involved in team operations with other personnel (you used the term "crew support" and implied most or all of the current P&M personnel, given your suggestion that they be replaced by crew from the Cadillac program), that seems doubtful, and very difficult to do without creating a "de facto factory team," I would think. Could they increase data analysis/management/engineering support, on a model similar to that done by engine and chassis suppliers to prototype teams? Possible, but those personnel will soon be needed to start working on "the next thing."

NOt as a factory team in 2008. Maybe with the NEW CTSv scheduled for 2009 debut.

Two of the three current SWGT caddies have been sold to privateer teams.

That is not good!

E85 is a fuel sucking pretend panacea that serves no purpose, especially now that articles are starting to pop-up, quite frequently, that ethanol is not only NOT the fuel of the future but destructive to the economy.

Of course tax payers could always just fork out a few more billion to rebuild the distilleries to other base sources, and then another, and another, and another....
Bob
PS--The high performance car mags, have been having a fair number of articles on engine builders and new carbs designed to run on alcohol.
That would be fantastic if one lived in Brazil.

It also has no connection to any official Chevy project as it was wholly funded by Jay Leno to see if it could be built. More intersting would be the guy who funds a diesel, and performance diesel not a truck block, within a street sportscar shell.

COntact Pratt & Miller. They are taking oders to begine APril 08 delivery.

The E85 cars are to be Califonia CARB compliant. Most race fuels will be E85 100 octane very soon anyway.

Some of the challenges with E85 race fuels is that it speparates very quickly, and eats fuel cell liners. Fuel needs to pumped out of the Fuel cell each night and should not be stored in the race cars fuel cells.

E85 race fuel is not very stable and needs to be produced and used as close to the race date as possible.

But Politically - Green and Marketable to the general public as 'doing the right thing." ( makes my gut turn )
