2010 NASCAR Sprint Cup Pick-'em Competition - The next round!

Since there is no official pick-'em competition I figured I might as well throw together a little unoffical one for fun.

I decided to keep it quite simple - all you have to do is 1) predict who will grab the pole position and 2) predict the final top five at the checkered flag in the race.

Here is how the points are awarded:

Correctly picking the driver grabbing the pole position nets you 2 points.

Correctly picking a driver's finishing position in the top five nets you 3 points per correctly placed driver.

Correctly picking a driver to finish in the top five but in a different position that you predicted nets you 1 point per driver (for example, if you picked Jeff Gordon to finish second and he finishes fourth you get 1 point).

Correctly picking the winning driver nets you 1 bonus point.

The tie breaker is the number of correctly picked winners, then the number of correctly picked second-place finishes etc.

(Not sure how this format will work but I guess we'll find out!)

Round 01 --- Race info: The Food City 500 at the 0.533 mile high banked Bristol Motor Speedway on March 21st. 500 laps is the scheduled distance.

Defending spring race winner is Kyle Busch. He also won the fall race last year, making it a Bristol sweep for 2009. Jeff Gordon and Kurt Busch are the active drivers with most wins at Bristol, five each. Mark Martin is the best qualifier among active drivers, having grabbed pole position nine times. Marcos Ambrose has the best average finish among active drivers, at a 6.5 average, but then again, he's only done two Cup races there so far

Deadline for posting picks is 3 p.m. ET / 8 p.m. UK / 21:00 CET on Friday, March 19th. Let me know if you have any questions.

Here are my picks for the Food City 500 @ Bristol Motor Speedway:

Pole Position: Kasey Kahne

Top Five at the Checkered Flag in the race:
1. Kurt Busch
2. Mark Martin
3. Jimmie Johnson
4. Kyle Busch
5. Marcos Ambrose

My Favourite 08 moment was when Courtney/Besnard comeback drive at Bathurst. Courtney raced through to dominate the opening stint had 15 sec. gap to Lowndes who was in 2nd. In the 2nd stint a slowly deflating tyre (originally diagnosed as a damaged anti-roll bar) slowed Besnard's stint in Courtney's car allowing Whincup to assert dominance over the field rest of the race. On lap 160 S.Richards, fading badly on rear tyres was unable to stop Courtney move into 3rd place.

Should this get stuck in the Fantasy section?

Pole: Denny Hamlin
Winner: Hamlin
2nd: Kyle Busch
3rd: Carl Edwards
4th: Brian Vickers
5th: Kevin Harvick

For bonus points there will be a stoush post race between Vickers and Busch Jnr

IMO we should keep it here to attract people.
But instead of a new topic for every round I think it's better to have 1 'hot topic' thread.
