Di Resta second fastest today so the car's working. Loads of laps completed so they must have money for fuel, unless Fearnley is sticking it on his card.

It hasn't burst into flames, had the suspension break or been shunted.

Having said that Jules hasn't had a go yet

It looks like the Kingfisher group are on the very verge of collapse

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/n...-1bn-loan.html

I'd say the future for the Force India team is almost terminally bleak.

I think this is why Nico Hülkenberg may have decided to abandon ship for Sauber..

Why would any reputable organisation become involved as a sponsor with the terminally wounded UB & Sahara groups.

There is going to be a really big financial collapse there, with lots of criminal court activity to follow.

in fairness, of the assets listed by the article as those used for collateral on the airlines loans the F1 team is not mentioned...that has to offer some sliver of optimism that the team will not be affected...this year anyways.

As about 95% of the teams funding is from UB & Sahara, you will find that when the parent companies collapse, as they almost certainly will, the funding for the F1 team will be shut off.

it cant be 95% as that would imply they receive at best only 5% from FOM via prizes or from signing the Concorde agreement etc buts thats besides the point because i actually do agree with you that it looks like they will soon lose two of their three biggest sponsors and i also agree that as long as they carry the 'Kingfisher' logos they will have a hard time attracting new sponsors.

earlier on (or maybe in a different thread) i said that i would try to keep an open mind and separate the team from the brand so barring any direct indication that the team is on the hook for one of its owners outstanding loans im keeping the faith that the team will be ok this season. going forward to next season is anyone guess what happens but i wouldnt be surprised by a sale or a complete rebranding at the least.

Force India isn't Forti Ford; a shoestring operation with a skeleton staff. Force India is an asset of good standing on solid supplier contracts and will be successfully sold in a fire sale.

As we know it.

The team has had decent on track performance. If a buyer can be found for the F1 team, and F1 team alone, someone could pick up a decent team for maybe cheap?

I don't know. I would hope someone would want to. When was the last time a mid-pack team simply ceased to exist as opposed to it being sold and rebranded?

Well, Ford can always take another stab at F1. A Ford-Mercedes F1 car would be a bit of an oddball though. OR, they could do Ford-Ferrari, and finally realize the partnership that wasn't meant to be back in the 60s (or was it the 50s?).

Can't see Ford back in F1 in the the short term after the mess they made the last time they tried. Renault seems to be the only major manufacturer who know how to run an F1 team and they spent a long time getting it right. Ferrari are a different case as their structure is not that of a major manufacturer even though they are owned by Fiat.
