Donegal Tragedy

I would like to send my sincerest condolences to the friends and families of those two marshals who died today at the Donegal International Rally.

I believe that all marshals, of whichever discipline, share a special bond and even though I have never met these marshals, I was deeply saddened by today's news.

Oh no they were marshals? No matter who was involved it's still terrible, but the news said they were spectators.

Sincerest sympathies to everyone involved

I haven't seen any information about this though, without wishing to rubberneck in anyway is there a news report anywhere?

Piglet - there is a statement on the Motorsport Ireland website - www.motorsportireland.com and you can find a brief news report at http://www.rte.ie/news/2002/0622/rally.html

It was nice to see that a minute's silence was properly observed at Mondello on Sunday. Only the crows were still making a noise at Hewlett Packard.

Very sad news..

I was very moved by the minute's silence at Mondello, and was glad to see that all the crowd stood up during it.

Yes, we were disgusted by some "racing fans" in the paddock who found the whole minute silence very amusing.

on the other side of the coin, there was the spectator that stopped by the marshals tent while I was there to offer his condolences - which i thought was really sweet.

I was stood on the grid during the minutes silence and was moved that *everyone* stopped what they were doing and stood in total silence. There were none of the usual idiots who will insist on yelling something in the middle of it or continuing to chat.

RIP lads

Those crows stop for no one, when I'm asleep in my tent or for minute sliences...

Deepest sympathy to all concerned. I have lost nearest and dearest and it made me well up thinking about it during the minute silence. I also saw two photographers grabbing the opportunity to walk down to the first corner during this time and thought that shameful as well.
