24 Heures du Mans (sur la livingroom)

Is anyone else as nuts as me and planning to "spectate" the whole of the 24 Hours in my living room tribune? I've Motors TV on, Radio LeMans via webcast, beer in the fridge and even coffee and croisants for breakfast tomorrow!

Useful links....

For those of us that dont have Motors TV (only Men and Motors, which is a very poor substitute), is LeMans covered on any Freeview/basic cable channels?

The questions been asked on radio LeMans and the anwser was no unfortunatly. Radio LeMans is also on Globecast Radio on Sky, not sure of the channel number though.

Edit
Just found it....0175

That's pretty bl00dy weak isnt it. Is Motorsport really that small a minority sport that nothing but F1 and BTCC (not the best racing to watch for a number of reasons) makes it anywhere near free to view telly (and even then you have to search for it - F1 quali is on ITV4 this afternoon in case it clashes with some non-descript "formulaic show tune wannabe" cookie cutter pulp)? Wouldnt LeMans be a great opportunity to tie viewers in for a whole day by (as I believe they used to) popping a few minutes coverage over the course of the race between each programme?

Dear God, Darts gets many times more coverage. I spose that's cheaper to make as it only involves one guy with a camcorder and a bar tab, and travel expenses to Thurrock.

in the grand scheme of things, its a minority program. Compare number of people that watch coronation crap to le mans and it's a no brainer for the TV people. Thats why it's on MotorsTV, as it's dedicated to motorsport and doesn't have to pander to the other rubbish that's on TV 99.99% of the time...

There is the other alternative. If you're as mad on motorsport as I am, get Sky!

In answer to the original post.........No!

I'm a Marshal of 15yrs but couldn't watch a race for that long.

I say put Legends on at LeMans......you could get around 100 races then!!

That's very kind of you Dave. Hope there's plenty of parking at your place & you've got lots of chairs in your living room. Should I bring my own croissants?

Wow, thanks for posting that. I would have missed it otherwise. For anyone with access to Freeview, you can see some Le Mans coverage 9.30 - 10.00 tonight on Ch. 34 (Setanta) FREE.

It does just make me want to be there even more though...

We've got MotorsTV on the telly, three forums running on the main PC, live timing, Radio LM and Flying Lizard on the lappy.

Motors TV have just reported that Steve Tarrant has been taken off post - allegedly to a place of safety as they consider it too dangerous for him to flag from his wheelchair.

Martin Haven commented that it was OK for him to be there in the pouring rain, why not now?

I'm sure there will be more on this when he returns from LeMans but the Motors Tv guys have received a message from Steve Tarrant saying that after flagging all practice sessions they have refused to let him to flag the race!

edit... snap Sheila (heard you get a mention plugging the orange earlier)

Great minds think alike!

As for the plugging of the orange, Martin Haven and David Leslie are well aware that if they don't plug the marshals, they'll be severely beaten with the broomstick!

Prob because some french part-timer has turned up and needs to be on tv, ACO not worthy of Steves presence

Motors TV are certainly keeping Steve in the headlines - he's just had another mention, along with Alan Stevens!

Steve was flagging from his wheel chair, no one had any issue with him during practice or a good chunk of the race, but someone from the ACO took him off post as it was not safe. We'll have to wait to hear Steve's side of the story, but from what MotorsTV have said it's pretty damn unfair to say the least

It was Mark Cole who mentioned that he'd been talking to Alan - he didn't say what about though.
